I got lucky, there was no damage, the head was just bouncing around in there. I was really surprised to hear there was no damage after hearing the sounds the thing was making, it was so bad...

Ohhh...so when we talked and you said how loud the flywheel is, it was due to the head of the bolts floating around? Wow...

wstar 04-21-2011 01:52 PM

I bet he only had 1 or 2 shear off, and that's what the damage wasn't bad. Even with one gone, aside from the bits floating around in the there the flywheel will be out of balance, can put odd rotation stresses on other components, etc. Sorry to hear about that RCZ, hopefully they'll update their design and take care of you guys with failures.

NewYorkJon34 04-21-2011 02:53 PM

Sooo Raul, you coming to the Z meet?

Actually nah, I was just referring to the rattle when we talked. When the nut sheared off it sounded like the flywheel was broken in half...it was really really bad.

One bolt sheared off. Hopefully we hear something from them soon.

I'm gonna try and make the meets.

When and where is the meet? Maybe my car will be ready by then.

Raul, are you going with a different flywheel or waiting to see what Fidanza has to offer? I'm thinking about ordering up a different make just to speed up the process a little bit. It's getting hard to find rides every where lol.

RCZ 04-21-2011 05:27 PM

I know what that's like man. I am leaving it in there for as long as possible. Its rattling as usual, I just dont know if its any louder than usual. I think maybe we need some different bolts... I really dont want to put a heavy fw back in there...it really livens up the car when its in there.

NO ONE does.

RCZ 04-25-2011 08:45 AM

Maybe fidanza will provide us with a fix when they do some testing. Maybe all we need are different bolts...

Hopefully they do, and hopefully it's just a simple fix like that!

BTW, you are approaching 1,500 posts, 100 pages, and 100,000 views for your journal thread, Raul. You're definitely one of the 370 pioneers. From comforting, floral beginnings to a supercharged beast... this has been one hell of a thread!

RCZ 04-25-2011 09:06 AM

Thanks Steve, its been a great ride so far thanks to the awesome people on this board. I'm trying to think what I'm going to do in honor of the 100,000 view...wonder who is going to be the 100k view and the 1500 post.

^Here an update on the tire sizes you recommended for my setup. AWESOME.

98intrigue 05-02-2011 02:03 PM

You going to be around Saturday at 2pm? That's when my tuning session with HP Logi is. It would be great to meet up with you, Jason, Ray, whomever.

Hmm, I'm not sure. Looks like the CSC is going out so I'm going to try and not drive around long distances if possible until I can get all the replacement stuff I need. Not to mention gas is stupid expensive right now.

Probably not. I don't want to get stranded out there.

I'll be around then, there's a pretty good chance I'll have my car too. J said it should be ready for this week. I actually live about ten mins away from HPlogic lol.

If my car is done I'll definitely stop by. If not, if I could find a ride I'll be there.

NewYorkJon34 05-02-2011 10:00 PM

Do u still have the southbend clutch? How's that holding up, I am thinking of going with their stage 3/4 kit & their flywheel. Even tho it's heavier, at least it will hold up.

RCZ 05-02-2011 11:02 PM

Yes I still have the southbend clutch, the clutch itself is awesome. Its the Stage 4, its awesome to say the least. I just need the metal CSC. If you want a clutch, Jay has a barely used one that will handle sc power and drives like stock. He wants to sell it.

I would consider selling mine too if anyone wants it. Mine has like 3500 never tracked miles on it and I'd sell everything for half whatever it is new.

NewYorkJon34 05-05-2011 10:18 PM

Is the one he selling a stg.4 clutch? I want to get their flywheel, I know it's not that light but I think it will hold up with the hd csc kit. How long does a clutch install usually take on the Z?

JB-370z 05-05-2011 10:23 PM

If you are getting rid of your clutch, which one would you go with after? OS, Exeddy?

RCZ 05-05-2011 11:47 PM

He has a different kind of clutch.

I decided not to get rid of my clutch after all. My flywheel is for sale though.

If I did get rid of my clutch, I'd probably look at a OSG, although I hear it rattles like no ones business.

jnaut 05-06-2011 09:45 PM

rcz, the clutch im selling is a new clutchmasters and if someone buy it ill make a package deal on the install :)

Footloose301 05-08-2011 05:47 AM

That's what you had at the last meet, right?^^

RCZ 05-08-2011 01:27 PM

I just picked up a Metal CSC and a Competition Clutch Steel flywheel to replace the fidanza which was a bit too noisy for my daily driver.

I will post a review about the package next week :)

NewYorkJon34 05-08-2011 03:07 PM

How come u didn't get southbend's flywheel? Do u get a deal on the southbend stuff? If so I wanna order the stage 4

RCZ 05-08-2011 10:22 PM

Yeah, I can help. Send me a PM.

NewYorkJon34 05-09-2011 12:36 AM

PM sent, also how long did the clutch install take?

RCZ 05-09-2011 07:58 AM

Jnaut did mine. He got it done in a day.

A clutch job is roughly 4 hours.

NewYorkJon34 05-09-2011 09:55 AM

Not bad actually compared to the header & coilover install

I should have mentioned most shops quote 6hrs though. If I can do my own clutch in 6hrs without ever doing something like that before, I'm confident a shop can do it much faster.

RCZ 05-11-2011 05:42 PM

4-5 hours sounds about right.

I just dropped the car off at J Spec Automotive this morning, hopefully parts will arrive this week and I can get it back next week sometime. Either way I plan to get it out to the track soon; whether Jay takes it or I make it up there.

Though I'd post this for the curious.

Here's the new Competition Clutch F/W going into my car. Its steel and weighs in at around 17lbs.

VS. the Fidanza Aluminum FW that weighed in at 15.2lbs. (and is for sale for someone who doesn't care about flywheel rattle)

MightyBobo 05-12-2011 01:21 PM

Tell me how that flywheel turns out dude! How much did the stocker weigh anyway? Something like 25 lbs?

SPOHN 05-12-2011 02:07 PM

How much HP does CC hold up to? Also let us know how the pedal feels after installed?
