How did they not fit? Tire rub at 20mm? (Edit: NM, just saw your post in the other thread)
NT05 sound sweet! <jealous> |
They studs were too thin for the hub.
|
edit: NM: I also saw the other thread about getting the wrong spacers for the rear. The correct ones from H&R should be in soon. Can't wait to see your pics of spacers and those phat Nitto's.

Update:
Swaybars have been installed. Havent really tested it out too much, but holy...corners completely flat and the whole car feels solid. I would recommend my setup to anyone who wants to get some serious performance from their Z, but doesnt want to go full race. Once I get some more time with the car, I will write something more extensive. While installing the swaybar I noticed oil dripping from the plastic cover....turns out the sandwich adapter is completely loose and could be turned by hand. Naturally there was oil sipping through the seam and I dont know just how much is gone. I had my last oil change done at the dealership....I know they have no idea what they are doing, but come on, its a damn oil change! DO SOMETHING RIGHT you idiots. How hard is it to change oil? It's what you do every day of your life! /vent. Needless to say angry phone call coming their way. Rear Spacer getting installed Monday...if all goes well, pictures coming. Also...the deal I was making with that carbon fiber mfg didnt end up materializing because it wasnt really what I was looking for. I got in contact with a new company though and they are talking full carbon kit. Fingers crossed. Meeting with them this week as well. So maybe I will have some carbon parts for you guys after all. |
Re oil change... so sad and so predictable, I'm glad you were able to catch it... my standard practice at this point is either do it myself (just bought a lift and 6 gallons of motul!), have my race prep shop do it, or literally watch the greasemonkey guys as they turn every wrench... unfortunately just can't trust the grease and go guys, dealers included! give em hell
|
Good catch on the oil (no pun intended). Yeh you gotta watch em, I also have the dealer change mine and I stand over them like a hawk because I am gettinng an oil sample to send off for a Used Oil Analysis.
Could you provide a link or the post # on your sway bar setup? I cannot remember which thread, seems there are alot on sways, but this one was on which sways to go with. I think I read that for my set up with Eibach springs and OEM struts that Stillen would work good and Hotchkis is for a stiffer suspension set up. Correct me if I am wrong, still learning this suspension stuff. Cheers Curtis |
* I dont know that there is a specific post, but I can tell you I got hotchkis swaybars. Reason being that they are a bit more aggressive than the Stillen ones and they would work better for my coilover setup. I think the Stillen will work GREAT with your Eibach spring, perhaps better than most the others, and they are by far the more attractively priced set of the ones that are available. Give Josh or Kyle a ring, I'm sure they will hook you up Curtis. If you have any more questions, shoot. We are all here to help.

On another note, finally everything is installed and the car is a dream to drive. Body roll is almost nonexistent with the bars. I will snap some pictures later for those of you who wanted to see what 15mm front spacers and 20mm rear spacers look like on the sport wheels. Also, looks like those carbon fiber bits (read: full carbon body kit) are a go. I don't know if any of you have heard of iCarbon, but they make some very nice quality stuff for the BMW 135i. Here are some pics I found on vividracing's site. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/i...i-shwcflip.jpg http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/i...r-diffuser.jpg http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs51/i/20...Johnny23xx.jpg http://fc06.deviantart.com/fs51/i/20...Johnny23xx.jpg http://static.pixelpipe.com/02e3e773...5719c139_m.jpg http://static.pixelpipe.com/3e943598...949723eb_m.jpg Who else is in for an add-on lip spoiler kit?? Carbon Diffuser? Its all coming soon. |
^ Count me in for all of it.
Look forward to seeing your set up, I have Stillen sways with Eibach springs on my car so I will give my impressions compared to yours shortly when I get some miles in. |
carbon looks great... re motul, wouldn't surprise me, I don't have enough experience with it yet to really say... but many racers change all their fluids before every event... I'm hoping to stretch it out more than that of course... we'll see

I am in for pics of your wheel spacers. Carbon Fibre looks great! Re: oil, I have heard and read some good results from some used oil analysis on Mobil 1 for track use on the Z33. Not much posted up on the Z34. Very good reading on Resolute' (Will) used oil analysis (UOA) thread on my350z. (Resolute) has a write up on Nissan's esther oil, although it may have gotten buried in all the posts on his thread. There is some data on Motul posted, if interested. I had good results from my type of driving (daily driving) with Pennzoil Platinum. Choosing the best oil really depends on your driving habits, and a used oil analysis will show what is going on with the internals. VQ Oil Analysis and Info - MY350Z.COM Forums |
Thanks, OK guys for sure I will have the spacer shots up by today. I have been lazy...
I had a meeting with the iCarbon guys yesterday. Let's just say I am very excited and you all should be too. We have a bunch of parts lined up, so if you were thinking about buying some exterior stuff...might want to hold up the parade for a few weeks. |
RCZ, what are the parts they are thinking of creating?
~Stock ~Lips/add-ons to stock ~New complete replacements I know it is early but just getting some ideas of what to look forward to. :D |

There will be some add-ons and complete replacements, no real point in remaking stock stuff. On another note, as promised here are a few quick shots of the spacers. H&R 15mm Front + H&R 20mm Rear. Remember I have TONS of negative camber on the front, which is why it looks in a little still. On a less aggressive alignment, the wheel would be flush like the rear one is. http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers8.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers7.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers6.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers5.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers4.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers3.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers2.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/spacers1.jpg |
Well that settles that, 15 in the front & 20 in the rears, thank you RCZ.
|
You're welcome. :)
|
Car is looking great man! MAKE SURE you keep me posted on the CF stuff...I'm 100% in as long as its a low-profile cf lip kit! Think bottom-line stuff for the STi.
|
Awesome stance, the 15mm Fr wheel spacers look good with the negative camber. The 20mm Rr look good with the Nitto N05's. Thx for posting up these pics. It gives me a good idea on what to go with.

Mods please delete spammers post.

Spamming bastard.
|
Im sure we can screw up his Ebay record. Lets ALL report the item on ebay as a scam.
|
All it takes is one bogus bid of some absurdly high amount.
|
RC...pm me a price for the spacers if ur willing to separate the items. no rush. thanks.
|
^ I'll make a thread about it when its for sure.

Direct Injection
Hey guys,
I'm really sorry to get way off topic, but something came up to be a month ago and I thought I would share it...Infiniti has created a concept car called the Essence, which is fitted with a twin turbo 3.7L Direct Injection V6. The standard 3.7L (i.e. no twin turbos) is supposed to go on the g37 and infiniti's m cars. I hear that there is a high change that nissan will bring it over to the Z. It could have around 340-350bhp and better fuel economy....Sweeeet!!! As far as I know, nissan have not used a direct injection engine since the old skyline and Stagea. I don't know much about direct injection, but I do know that they will provide better hp and fuel economy, but I hear that they will be harder to mod...and we have bumped the Z's economy and hp by changing the exhaust or breathing system, but direct injection sounds like a good idea (to me). Man, what gives with everybody switching to direct injection (911 Turbo, Gallardo lp560-4, Ferrari 458, Ferrari California) Anyway, I'm sorry if I drifted off the topic of modding and RCZ's journal, but I hope my post was a little helpful.... |
RCZ, what's your opinion on your Hotchkis sway bars cause I'm running with stillen sways and I'm thinking about switching....The Hotchkis sway bars have a variety of adjustments and is stiffer. The Hotchkis probably do handle better, but I do not know how it will affect ride quality because I don't want the Z to be completely rock hard. Also, I am running on KW 3 coilovers, so I know we do have similar suspension set ups, so what's do you think I should take: Hotchkis or Stillen??
|
Cool. I love my hotchkis bars, they work perfectly with the KW V3's. Ride quality didnt really change all that much. It changed way more from the stiffer sidewalls on the tires than it did from the sways. PMing you.
|
RCZ, the pictures look great! Keep us posted on the iCarbon stuff, their BMW kits look great so it looks like, thanks to you, we'll also be getting some great looking carbon parts!
|
RCZ, Let me know about the spacers too. i'm local and I think I see you around my house all the time ( In the brickell area).
Do you daily drive your car? and is the carbon company local? I definitely want a nice lip kit. thanks, |

I've been looking at the rear end of the car in order to help them draw up a functional rear diffuser, but the exhaust sits low below the bumper line. The biggest problem though, is that with the slew of different exhausts out there, we can't design ONE thing that fits everything. For example something that works with the stock/stillen exhaust will not work with the F.I. exhaust. Looking at options though... maybe a 3 piece diffuser....don't worry, we'll come up with something that works :) Quote:
I'll put my stuff up for sale, will let you know when it is... |
my vote would be to design the diffuser for max aero benefit and let us cut the holes required for our exhaust, given the many different aftermarket exhaust configs that exist... or maybe offer two versions... one version uncut, and one cut for the stock exhaust.. 2c
