I'm gonna be honest with you Dee, just listen to what I tell you. You absolutely do not need an oil cooler in this area unless you track your car. Even with 100 degree heat and heavy traffic, my temps never reached the point where an oil cooler was necessary. The only time I got close outside of the track was the one cruise we did in the summer when it was like 100 degrees. Even then, I shifted up 1 gear and was ok in a couple mins. An oil cooler for you would be a complete waste of money.

Marlon Wayans? :excited:

Not All Z's are the same. Mine would hit 240° just cruising along at 70 miles per hour in weather over 85°. ANY spirited driving would easily drive it to 250°.

With the oil cooler I can still make mine hit 240° pretty easily... 260° now takes some work... I am probably going to vent my fenderwell this summer.

:iagree: In AZ (Avg temps during cruises were between 80-100*f) would easily spike up to 240 or higher depending on the grade we were traveling.

Oil coolers are good, that's why they make different sizes. A 19 row would probably work fine, and he can still make the block off plate and only remove it when he plans on cruses/tracking.

awesome! scan or take a pic of that time sheet!

I posted this in the 1/4 drag sub-forum but here it is:

I think I was a shifting a bit too early, around 6900 or right at 7k, just old habit. pretty sure I could launch harder too but only two runs so first one was about 1500 rpm 2nd run I spun when I accidently smashed my foot to the floor cuz I missed the light, it caught me off guard ;)

So what are the "Correct" shift points 1-4? I'm assuming you launch at ~2000...

Dude, Im shocked they didnt delay federal employees... damn it.

Sales@AAMComp 03-25-2013 08:11 AM

Congrats Kevin! That 1.9 60' is solid, maybe shifting much later will yield a higher trap speed, and faster time!

DM, we tune our cars to redline at 7800, although on an N/A set up you really don't "make" more power after your factory redline, however this higher redline will put you in a sweeter spot/powerband for your next gear

I'd rather have a 19 row one than not..

chieuxuan 03-25-2013 08:35 AM

D, if you don't drive your car hard, don't waste that money dude, I planned to take mine to the track that was why I installed the very first mod on the Z with 33.5 rows oil cooler.

For what purpose? To add another point of failure in return for no benefit given how you drive?

Thats a whole lot of failure for all those people that have 2013s and dont track their cars, huh?

actually launched at 1500-1600 that time which is why I'm thinking I could launch effectively at 2000-2500 and shift later. It'll take me a few more times to get the shift points better I'm sure so a few more trips to the track should help. t'was fun though.

I'll go with you next time. Was it windy at the track?

Also if you're spinning too much out of the hole (with your higher launch) we can also play around with the tire pressures
