Yeah I hear you. I don't care for that "puffy" look you get with aftermarket seats sometimes.

Im with you bro, I'll make the trip up there, and we can knock em out in a few hours. I got plenty of hog rings left and the pliers.

I hear ya. I wasn't a huge fan of how the touring interior wore on my 09, so that was one of the contributing reasons why I decided to stick to cloth this time around.

eastwest2300 04-29-2013 07:55 PM

What happened with it?

damn... I hope eventually I get my hands on an aftermarket leather kit, which I would hope would be better made than the OEM stuff.

Seat heaters are my favorite feature when DD'ing the Z in the winter. I don't know if I can get another car without seat heaters ever again :icon17:

Since I'm not in AZ anymore, I will definitely be looking into these for my next car/DD.

Either that, or get one of those 12v plug in seat heating pads for the winter. I didn't want the Touring for the crappy Bose system, but the heated seats are worth an extra cost.

I hadn't even thought about the fact that heated seats would have been the least of your concerns when you bought the car. :roflpuke2:

They're delightful, though, and you can certainly add them, and for not too great a cost, I believe.

I'm not sure if you can put Touring seats in a base?

Is the base pre-wired to where all you'd need to do is Plug'n'Play the seats and put the switches in the center console??

shadoquad 04-29-2013 10:15 PM

I can't remember. When I had taken the seats out years back and looked at the wiring, I could have told you.

I have seat heaters in the Subie and the Vette, but while they're nice, they'd never be a necessity for me in any vehicle.

And the biggest modern option that I most openly reject is Nav. Thanks to smartphones and google maps.

I agree, Factory nav isn't worth it. But an aftermarket HU with Nav built in, and Google maps ability with phone pairing is sooo much better. For much less.

Well I like my music, and aftermarket HU's are leagues ahead of stock ones.

And when you have the phone synced, it Is using your phone. :p

Right, but I still have my music and my phone for nav, and didn't spend any money on fancy hu.

Just giving support to the option? No need to be snappy.

FWIW I am in the same boat. Nexus 7 over headunit. 7" HD screen for Nav, Music, OBD2, and entertainment. Combo'd with an equalizer app it poops on a lot of aftermarket setups...atleast those with headunit and some decent speakers, subs don't count. Our stock stuff sucks so bad mostly because of the software running it. Its amazing what happens when you throw in an equalizer.

m4a1mustang 04-30-2013 09:10 AM

I just swapped out the base HU for a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS. I was amazed at the difference in sound quality it made. For me (not an audiophile) even the stock speakers sound really good with a real HU.

I do have some Polk speakers and tweeters that I will eventually put in, but I'm in no rush.

But its two different setups.. ones a tablet and the other is a car cd player. Its like one being "different" and the other being the "norm" in regards to a car stereo setup.

Im gonna throw in a Kenwood Excelon in the Z, and Im really leaning towards doing a single din setup, everyone has the double din, I like the the option of removing the faceplate for anti-theft purposes.. (especially where I live)

You should just move. :bowrofl::bowrofl:

Seriously... I would not tolerate living in constant fear of theft.

The "norm" isn't always the best :tiphat:

Personally I like saving hundreds of dollars. But I am crazy like that
