Official Hurricane "Sandy" thread. Are you guys okay along the (North) EAST COAST?

state of emergency in sullivan county NY, nobody had power. schools aare canceled rest of week same as city. I am in orange county haven't lost power, glad I'm in a new apartment complex. Haven't really been affected in any way other than can't really go anywhere because so much is shut down etc

I have about 18 family members that left NJ on the Explorer of the seas for a cruise to bermuda Sunday afternoon. They got tossed and turned, and alot of seasick bags, but made it to bermuda today. I've heard 80mph winds, and 30 foot seas.
Probably their last cruise ever!!!

Just an Update

I spoke to AK via text yesterday and HE and the Z our fine but his home maybe another story

He was not able to check in since their keeping people out from my undertsanding but hopefully he's had a chance to survey the damage.

I just wanted to let everyone he's physically fine so folks don't think the worse.

My best goes out to everyone dealing with this Storm and its aftermath

Ugh. I'm glad he's OK but I sure hope his house is as well.

I've been to that area where AK lives in the past. It's really close to the water and low. I hate to say this, but I don't think his house could have made it without extensive flooding. The only thing that really matters is that he got out of there safely.

We're not out of the woods yet. Stay safe fellas. Lots of down trees, power lines and broken stoplights everywhere.

stay strong guys.... living on an island that has seen a good amount of hurricanes/typhoons...i know how extensive the damages can be with them. I am glad AK is ok...

i hope the best for his house

our houses on guam are all built outa cement because of typhoons hitting us so often (thank god none have hit us for a while) The winds of the typhoons here reach 125mph easily and sometimes reach almost 200mph with super typhoons i can only imagine the havoc on the wooden houses built in states

ill keep praying for those of you who are affected by this catastrophe.... i wish you all the best
