Official Hurricane "Sandy" thread. Are you guys okay along the (North) EAST COAST?

It's been a very stressful last few days for us North Eastern residents. Hurricane Sandy has made our life pretty much hel*. Yesterday we were told to evacuate(mandatory) our home. I'm typing this post from a hotel room far away from home with a wifi connection that keeps going on and off :(. Hurricane Sandy doesn't hit our city till 8p-midnight tonight but we are going to see the strongest wind since our city falls right in the center of Sandy :(. Here's picture taken few minutes ago. Sandy tore off part of the Boardwalk and it's flooding everywhere in my city and the hurricane is not even in my city yet! It's about 300 miles away.

35 foot section of boardwalk floating down 15 blocks from my house :(

We are also looking at DAYS of power outage after the hurricane leaves.
How are you guys doing along the east coast?

I live in West Texas and have no issues with floods, so excuse my inexperiance. But what do you guys do with your vehicles in this situation? I cant grasp the idea of everything you own just getting washed away, good luck and we'll be sure to send a prayer.

Get them to higher ground if you can... otherwise... insurance.

Winds starting to pick up here. Supposed to get our most intense winds later this afternoon and into tomorrow morning... hopefully nothing too bad. It's gonna be worse for everyone farther up north.

Stay safe guys!

I saw on the news this morning that electric companies are sending crews up there today to help get any power outages resolved quicker. I know there are a couple companies down here in FL sending crews to the FL east coast as well as up to NY etc. I think Okalahoma is also sending people. Hopefully these efforts help out as much as they're planning.

Stay dry!!

Sorry you got evacuated AK, but better safe than sorry. It looks like it is going to be hitting NJ, DC, NYC pretty hard so stay safe everyone. Boston looks like it will escape the worst of this one, I expect to lose power but I'm fine with that.

Stay safe warm and dry!

Did it get "knocked out" or did they just shut everything down and told people to stay home?

I woke up today thinking it was gonna be fallen trees, flooded roads, and rain, but it was calm and I looked out the window and nothing had fallen, I was like dam I got off from work for no reason.

Then switch on the TV gov has closed all highways by 11am, no schools, stores open, roads are deserted, its like we were under a nuclear bomb threat.:icon17:

Anyways, stay safe everyone, basement is your best option to hide :bowrofl::bowrofl:
