Factory ammo or a reload?

Something you shot or picked up at the range?

It looks like powder got hot, as in high pressure. Is the primer bulged? It should be smooth with the firing pin indent. If the indent is even with the rest of the primer or the primer has a small hump, then the load was too hot for the firearm. I've also seen this when the wrong round is fired in a gun, for example .380 in a 9mm.

Factory Winchester ball round brand new I shot. I was using my Glock. I just read somewhere this is common with Glocks.

I didn't look at the primer, sorry.

Unhappy

Looks like that piece of brass slipped through QC at the factory. I've seen that before with Win brass with the color.

I bought a bunch of new 9mm and 40 S&W Win brass to reload. During reloading, I found most of it was short on length by .006" to .011".

Glocks are famous for bulging the brass.

In one respect I agree with Ghost... On the other hand, I'm thinking the complete opposite. There's a chance the charge isn't burning hot enough to expand the casing to prevent blowback. If that's the case, you are actually in an under pressure situation. That could spell trouble if you rapid fire as you are now more likely to wind up with a round stuck in the chamber. Try to switch out ammo. If it still does it then I'd get the barrel chamber checked. Might not be perfectly cut.

If the barrel checks out then leave it with a gunsmith to diagnose. Any issue like that tells me there is a problem and no firearm should exhibit problems.

It was an isolated incident.

It's good it was an isolated incident, but it points out that in today's ammo situation (manufacturers trying to fill demand), it's really important to pay attention to felt recoil and sound. If you have a round that doesn't feel or sound 'right', it's time to stop and inspect the firearm. I saw a Thompson copy have 5 ( ) .45 ACP rounds stuck in the barrel because of one low charge round that didn't clear the muzzle. The idiot was lucky the carbine didn't blow up on him.

Holy crap! How the hell does THAT happen? You'd think that after the second shot with no new hole resulting in the target there might be a little bit of a big freakin' problem! Silly people. But you are right. Check and test your ammo. Carefully.

Then you got a single, under-charged round. It happens. But certainly not a good thing.

Made worse that it was fired by the less experienced Mrs. BoneZ.

Talking Can Cannon PSA

PSA

For those who don't know a while back BATFE reclassified the Can Cannon by X Products so that when it was on a AR-15 lower it was an SBR and a AR-15 Pistol lower an AOW. That put guys like me who owned the Can Cannon in the dog house due to not having any SBR lowers or AOW lowers. Luckily I had a friend with a SBR willing to babysit mine ever since that ruling came out.

X Products promised to fix this and they have.

The new design of the gas port passed BATFE approval and X Products have set up a replacement program for the new gas tube.

Links
Replacement Program: https://xproducts.com/legalize-my-can-cannon
BATFE Letter: https://www.xproducts.com/sites/defa...Can-Cannon.pdf

Also X Products has released the grappling hook for the Can Cannon.
Comes in different colors, grey, red, blue, and gold.
