Most Garand stocks out there that are in decent condition have been refurbished, most rifles dont have all of their original components as from the factory. CMP had cannibalized some rifles to complete others.
Also, there were many different companies that made the M1. Im lucky to have Springfield receiver, barrel and even the stock has the Springfield stamping.
Ive had this rifle for about 5 years, and Ive replaced the Op rod and op rod catch. I kept the old parts though, because the ones I replaced them with were after market stuff and the old ones still had some stamping.

Yeah, its pretty accurate. But I can only see out to 300 yds - unless the target is the side of a barn But. Ive hit clays that far out on its iron sights.

Id LOVE to get my hands on the sniper version of the garand.

Great to see some M1 Garand love!
This is me: M1garand.net

I've been out of the Z game for a few years now and miss them, but it's great to see some love for my other interests!

It's hard not to love the M1 Garand! It's one hell of a rifle!
BTW, I liked the site.

My dad has one and I love it. I've been debating on getting one for a long time.

Actually I would love to have a Shuff's Parkerizing Mini-G.

How do you guys feel about modded M1 Garands like the Mini-G?

I was in a pawn shop in Phoenix last year. They had a couple M14s one for 1100 and the other for 900. Didnt really get a chance to look at them, but I shouldve got at least one of them!
How heavy is the MiniG? I have bum shoulders and cant even shoot my AR without any type of support.

Quick Google search came up with 7.7 pounds and 8.2 pounds. I bet it depends on the final configuration like if it is sporting a composite stock and/or scout scope rail.

Here's a pic of the 7.7 pound one.

I think if I had an old beat up M1, Id give this a shot, even if not just for freshening it up. Otherwise, Id just go look for a t26

In WWII. They had short M1's called tanker rifles. It's what some kept in the tanks.

From what I've read/heard the "tanker" designation is a misnomer. IIRC the T26 "tanker" was for jungle troops but due to wood on the stock swelling in the jungle environment made the T26 unreliable so it was never issued. The "tanker" nickname came after the war in an attempt to sell them to the general public.

Absolutely! Or the M1 carbine. Glorified pistol, but easier to manage. My dad had an M1 Carbine when i was a kid. Also had calico m100. Man he had some cool stuff! Wish he had kept them.

I'm looking to pick up a Garand at some point. I've got a 1903A3 made by Smith Corona, and a NORINCO M14 (which I think I'll happily trade plus cash for a Springfield Armory M1A). I just need the Garand to complete the 'modern era wood stock battle rifles' collection. I've shot the M1 carbine (pistol round). What a POS.....

I want a 1903 but its hard to find one in decent condition. Not too big on the M1A though. Are you going to add the M1 Carbine to your collection? I know its crap for any type of distance shooting, but my dad had the Airborne version with collapsible stock and I instantly loved it when I was a kid.
