Honestly I'd love to get a .38 revolver instead but revolvers are expensive as **** from what I've seen.

DeliriousClam 07-27-2016 10:56 AM

anyone have any experience with Taurus revolvers? I'm looking at one of their .357 magnums right now

My wife has a snub nose Taurus .38 special that works like a dream. It's super light and great for carrying... but the .38 doesn't punch like a .357 would.

I have a Colt Trooper (.357)... I wouldn't carry it due to the size and weight, but it's a fantastic shooter and didn't break the bank. Taurus has come a long way with their quality over the years, but If I had to pick between a Colt and A Taurus when it comes to revolvers, I'd go with the Colt.

Just my $0.02.

BoneZ 07-27-2016 11:11 AM

I had a Taurus .38 Special 4". It was pretty nice.

Carrying doesn't matter to me because New Jersey. It'll see mainly range time. I'm just looking for something that's not going to **** up. I've heard mixed things about Taurus but this .357 is so tempting

BoneZ 07-27-2016 11:13 AM

I thought everything was legal in New Jersey.

Gerg 07-27-2016 11:14 AM

I know there are haters out there for this particular series due to the fanboy nature of the marketing surrounding it, but for anyone out there who hasn't tried them yet, the SIG Sauer Legion series is more than hype.

The P226 Legion in 9mm is probably the finest pistol I've ever shot or owned. The work they've done on the trigger and ergonomics of the controls are second to none.

lmfao hell no. You're technically supposed to have a firearm license to own airsoft guns. No carry at all unless you can prove you NEED to carry (and they'll decide if you have a legit reason to carry. My friend who was military police for 4 years doesn't qualify for carry.)

I'd love a P226

Is it tempting because of the looks or because of the way it fires? Revolvers are one of the most reliable handguns you can get, so I wouldn't worry about the Taurus messing up during normal shooting.

The best advice (as always) is to shoot as many different models and makes as you can. The answer to which one is best for you becomes much easier after that. I used to think I really wanted a particular gun (based on looks and reviews mostly) and then when I actually shot it, I found that it didn't really work for my grip and shooting style. Hands on practice and range time are always going to be the best indicators of what works for you.

I guess it's changed since Aaron Burr was packing.

Yup. Not allowed to own more than three pistols, you need to give two references for each one you get. You can get as many rifles as you want though.

SouthArk370Z 07-27-2016 11:43 AM

It's way too big for CC but my 9mm Walther P-4 (based on P-38) has been very reliable on the range for me. I've shot over 1500 rounds through it without any problems. Easy to break down, clean, re-assemble. I don't think it's in production any longer but they made a LOT of them for police/military use so you should be able to find a used one in great shape.

I have no regrets. I was able to find mine on a local forum and got a pretty good deal on it. (MSRP is roughly $1400... I got mine for under a grand)

Walther is a solid company. I carry a P99. If I wanted to go thinner, there's always the PPS. Good, reliable pieces all around. I may have to pick up a P4 at some point... just haven't seen any around here lately.

I bought my dad a WWII P38 several years back and it still shoots great. We had it out on Father's day and he made short work of the X ring with it. :excited:

That's insane. Time to move. As an additonal bonus, you'd no longer be living in Jersey.

Go for it. I've got a P226 X-Five. It's the best pistol I've ever shot.

I have a Taurus 608 which is a 8 shot .357 mag revolver. Haven't shot it in forever because it is broken. The cylinder locks are weak on some Taurus revolvers.

Ouch. And I thought my pair of Keltec tupperware pieces of **** were bad. :roflpuke2:

Did you buy that on purpose, or was it left behind after a crime?

A friend of mine gave it to me 20 years ago and I've just always held onto it. I figured it might make a good prop one day.

I figured out. If you are using Tapatalk you can't see the pic. I installed it for a few just to verify. I Fn hate that app.

I wouldn't be shocked if they come from the factory with the serial number filed off. It's a good option if the HiPoint is out of your price range. I've got a couple of similar KelTecs. Not sure why I own them, and they're not worth enough to sell.

I believe the slide is made out of the same metal they make Hot Wheels out of. They have a history of shattering in the user's face.

Is that a bad thing, though? Given that most people who carry those are usually not the most upstanding of citizens, maybe it's a good thing? It's not a bug, it's a feature?

Just got my GoogleFoo on and found many scary stories about these guns. Can't believe that these guns were actually allowed to be sold. :eekdance:

Were any of them actually sold, or did they just jump straight to "stolen"?
