I've gotten pretty jaded and cynical when it comes to social networking sites. Myspace went the way of the dodo, Twitter is useless self indulgence, and Facebook seems to be on a decline as well. In my experience, many people only use Facebook to try and make their lives seem more interesting in order to make other people feel inferior. It's gotten to the point where I go some place and I'll see a group of high school kids who are spending more time documenting their outing with pictures and posting them on facebook in real-time than they are actually enjoying the event. It's not about what you do anymore, it's about how you present yourself on facebook. It's about making everyone else feel as lousy as possible by posting the most exciting 5% of your life for everyone to see.
