No need to apologize. I love Vancouver, particularly White Rock, where I grew up, and I intend to move back to in the future when my career allows.

Look at the Slogan on the license above the photo, it is quite arrogant and really quite pomp.

Unfortunately this is how many people view Vancouver / B.C.

I really did feel while living in B.C. I was reminded of the American style of childish 'We're the best' in your face attitude where looking down your nose on the rest of Canada was part of the culture, and most are totally unable to tolerate any type of criticism.

This was just my observation and I found it very strange. But apparently as the article I linked to suggests, it is a very real phenominon and many other people have picked up on this.

My best example is the SouthPark episode 'Smug Alert', instead of San Francisco, sub in Vancouver.

Since you moved into Vancouver I'm surprised you haven't noticed all the people who have lived their entire lives have this attitude. When I would comment on how much I loved it there, people would get this"Uhmm of course vancouver is the best, what are you stupid?" look on their faces.

Anyhow, like I said, I intend to move back, and consider myself fortunate to have grown up in White Rock, but I was always very aware of the 'better than the rest of Canada' attitude the province seems to convey.

I love the climate (identifiable 4 seasons, but milder than the interiors. Most recently, I was living in California (both Northern and Southern), and found drastic differences between the two. Maybe my benchmark of "snobby" is different as I used to live in Beverly Hills as well, but here, people are generally very friendly and down to earth.

My apologies if my last post came through a little harsh. I do love this place. And I have many reasons to.
