It's hot, I still like the 599 for pure sex appeal, but both have great curves!

frost 06-28-2010 08:23 PM

Yeah, I mean, Ferraris and that shit of course. But there is something beautiful about the simplicity of this car. Sexy fuckin lines of course, but none of all that BS. Like, I could come out and work on this car.

I want to buy a nice watch, but I can't stand the thought of spending over $1000 (let alone $2000) for a watch. Help me out!

I think seiko has a good middle-ground of watches. I spent $500 and got a nice titanium one that's lasted a good few years now, but you can get a real looker for $350.

This is the one I have, looks like it's gotten about $150 cheaper over the last couple years.

Ditto

Keep an eye out at the daily sale sites that do watches.
Don't buy into the "2000 dollar for 100 dollar" offers... but there are some good deals every now and then. Look out for a Tag Heuer or something within those lines...

For the seiko people, here is one on special today ChronoShark | The Watch Deal a Day Site

On a side note Member Zero (Paul) has connections for getting seiko watches dirt cheap. If any ones interested?

I agree. This is my Seiko, about $450 retail, I stole it on Amazon for $290. It's titanium and the alarm function is great.

My coworker (with whom I started my conversation about watches) told me he had THE watch to have....and it was the same one you just linked. Hahaha!

frost 07-05-2010 05:07 PM

Watches, like many things, are a very particular to the taste, so really our best bet is to give you our opinions on a good brand, and then you pick the particular model that meets your taste. Sounds like seiko is a pretty accepted brand.

This is another one of those cases where it looks a lot better in person than the pics. Most pics make it look black, but it is titanium and is actually that titanium grey color. The dial is very intricate as well. But styling is very subjective. I get a lot of compliments on it in person, but it is a little different in the styling.

I like the look of yours a lot, classic lines and tastefully done. I wanted a chrono, so I opted for mine.

LOL, I ALMOST bought this one, it was between mine and this, and when I found mine on sale so low, I jumped. This watch has the same movement as mine, including the alarm feature.

This ones retails like for $700, but can probably be found a lot cheaper. What model did you end up with?

SNA765, retail $450 to $500 originally. I think Seiko gets a little extra retail for that "Honda Racing Team" thing, as those were originally made as team watches and given to the Formula 1 drivers.

m4a1mustang 07-05-2010 05:30 PM

You can find a few Omegas at or around $1,000.

There are a number of Hamiltons under $1000... most all Tissot's are under $1000.

Seiko is your best bet at the low-mid range. I like that I can get 3-4 Seikos that I really like for the price of an entry level Omega/Tag.

My favorite style of watch is the Rolex Submariner. Now I'm not going to pay $7000 (yet) for the Sub I want, but I did pick up a Seiko SKX031 diver. Similar in look and I swapped the cheap folded bracelet out for a Seiko Grand Oyster (solid links) bracelet. Though right now it's sitting on a MARATAC khaki strap for a bit of a summer style. :)

Recently Amazon has had some killer prices on Tags, many in the $600 to $700 range. I guess in this economy they have been slow to move.

If I was going to buy a Tag (which is more likely than me buying a Rolex), I will go for a Carrera Cronograph Automatic. The blue one on a leather strap... I love it! List on the damn thing at Bloomingdales was $3400 last year, though.

The thing about buying a premium watch online is that most of the online vendors are not authorized, which means if you ever have an issue with the watch it will not be serviced under warranty by the manufacturer.

Yea, haven't seen the Carrera discounted. A while back I saw the Omega Seamaster non-automatic quartz for $1,200, nice price. Now it is at $1,695. I came close to pulling the trigger when it was $1,200, but really didn't need it, so I killed the urge, lol.
