Some pros and cons. I've run basically every manufacturers phones over the ages. Moto, LG, Samsung, oneplus, Google, OPPO, Huawei, etc. I currently run a Samsung s10 whenever I need something more 1-handed oriented.

Pros: best yearly support for newest Android OS out of all others. I think they offer 3 years of updates now with monthly security patching.

Cameras are amazing. Better than iPhone imo.

Resale value holds better than other brands. But best bang is when you trade in for another Samsung device.

Solid premium feel with top grade internals. Very fast wireless charging.

Cons:
One UI is still complete hot garbage and you should use a third party launcher like Nova.

The amount of bloatware is beyond stupid and should be deleted asap.

Bixby is a joke and needs to be killed.

Samsung had the habit of purposely slowing the phone down over time as it ages. Only a matter of time until a lawsuit happens.

Hopefully you have better luck than I did with my Galaxy whatever model it was back then. Experience was so bad I’ve sworn off Samsung products for life.

Past, almost 10yrs. I’ve only had 2 phones & still have both....got a 3GS model iPhone the first of 2011 & waited until they made a larger one & got my current 6+ 6yrs ago
I guess I should have upgraded & got a 9.....but they never made one
So.....I guess I might be looking at a 12
With errthing I have going on right now, gonna roll with this 6+ for a while longer

If it was prior to the S8, you should revisit. I only switched once HTC became subpar but my S10 is great. I will say that I've gotten more corrupted SD cards with Samsung vs HTC and that might be my only gripe.

I've had Samsung phones forever. Since before smart phones where a thing. Other than the galaxy s3 not lasting as long as the others I've had great luck.

My only complaint is they dropped Rugby models. I never broke a screen on one of those and my phones have a rough dirty life

I'm kinda torn about getting a 5G phone. According to what I've read, the full spectrum of 5G won't be completely on-line for at least 5 years, so I'm not sure it's worth the time right now. That being said, my S10 has been rather squirrelly recently, so I've been contemplating the Galaxy Z fold phone....

The 5g thing is true to an extent. Smaller areas won't have the infrastructure for years to come. The thing is that 5G for residential users doesn't matter much. Stream speeds on 4g are far more than enough for the average person.

The tough part will be with phones. More companies are adding 5g which inherently raises the price. But, you are also future proofing yourself for the time if/when 5g does become available within your area.

The issue with getting a 5g phone right now (especially android) is that the phone OS may not be supported in 5 years when 5g readily becomes available.

If you can swing $2,000 for the Z Fold 2. Do it. it's fun to hold the future in your hand. But i wouldn't get the phone strictly for 5g. You can pick up a pixel and spend the other $1,500 on cigars.

The other option you can do with your s10 is root it and load a custom rom onto it. lineage OS is readily available for the device and will keep is running smooth for years to come.

5G works best in dense cities, which I do not live in anyways. I dont expect it to work for a long time but I really dont give a **** as my phone isnt my entertainment item. Its a phone that takes pictures of the Z. As long as I can text, I dont really care.
