From what I have been reading and seeing, the vast majority of the people getting violent are not protestors. Many of them have come from other towns and states to foment violence.
I didn't see what happened before Mr. Floyd was pinned down, so I really can't comment on whether or not the officer's actions were warranted. But, if the officer who killed him is guilty of 3rd Degree Murder (similar to manslaughter) as charged, the three other officers were, at the very least, not "protecting and serving" and very possibly aiding-and-abetting, accessories, or whatever the legal term would be.
