Almost finished one side of my vert. top fix. Just have to bolt down a strap behind the rear finisher. The other side is 1/4 the way done, so I SHOULD be done with this stupid project today. Between the P1606 and this current project, Ive been keeping the milage down on the Z...lol
I love my 3 node google mesh setup. It is blazing fast all the way out in the detached garage ~95 ft away from the house. One router in basement, attached garage and then detached garage. Works great.

Hmm... I never thought about putting a node in the garage. Its about 75ft away. I think Ill try this today, so I can stay on top of my emails while I finsih my Z.

How configurable is the google mesh? I got the Linksys Velos, its EXTREMELY basic. I get about 95-100% of my subscibed speed... Really surprised because Im in a saturated area.

I have a Sonicwall NSA router that I re-purposed from work..lol
I thought the board/ports were fried when we had a power surge at work, but it was just the settings/firmware that got screwed up. Thats just another project to procrastinate on.

Which mesh wifi did you go with? I bought the eero off of Amazon and it works well. It was pretty easy to set up too.

The Linksys Velop. Took longer to unpack than it did to actually set up..lol
The config on them is too basic. Im not too sure, but I need to figure out if it automatically switches betwen 2.4 and 5ghz. 2.4 is useless because Im surrounded by them.

Mine seems to automatically switch, but TBH, I couldn't tell unless I used a wifi analyzer. It works, and keeps my fiancee from complaining that her iPhone won't get email in our bedroom. I put one node in our room.
Three is perfect for our 1500 sq ft house, one in the living room on top of the Google fiber box, one in the family room and one in the master bedroom.

I made the 2.4 and 5ghz keys different and connected my laptop using the 5ghz key. A little annoying that I cant just disable the 2.4

The feature just allows you to add nodes around the coverage area to increase signal strength. Your device may then connect to multiple nodes at once to get maximum speed. They call it a mesh.

I really don't need these, but I went ahead and picked up a set for my google wi-fi. The pro version mounts behind the wall plate - the non-pro version is $5 cheaper for a set of 3 and uses the plug itself to secure.
