The red dots on the outside dials do NOT light up at all. They are just reference points. The lights inside the black faces light up based on the system

The red dots on the outside dials do NOT light up at all. They are just reference points.
The lights inside the black faces light up based on the system functions being used (A/C ON/OFF, Recirc or Outside Air, and Rear Defrost).
