Be damn careful with that fiberglass A-frame ladder. Mine failed on me yesterday, twisted into a helix and collapsed. I ended up dangling one-handed off a rafter tie 10 feet off the ground. Pretty sure my grip left an imprint on the 2x6..

Glad you are ok

JARblue 11-17-2019 08:15 AM

I've got a 30-40 year old aluminum extension ladder inherited from Grandpa. Extends full 28 feet for me to barely reach the roof gable peak. Sketchy as fuuuuuck. It's pretty much the reason I don't put up Christmas lights anymore haha

JARblue 11-17-2019 08:16 AM

Heading out for some disc golf

Btw... the Texas Longhorns are still ranked #1 after last night's win :D

I'm of course referring to the women's volleyball team. Not that trainwreck of a football team :shakes head:

I'm surprised to see a Werner collapse. One of the best ladders made.

But I’m gonna go ahead & build my own trusses & put them on top...just want to have at least the 16x16’ assembled & leveled before adding more weight. :ugh2:

The pitch is probably only gonna be around 4:12, as that’s what my front gable is....roof is 5:12 on house

You just want to make sure you have enough stiffness. That can be largely affected by the column connections. If you have a full moment connection at the foundation the upper portion can be lighter. If you have a weak connection then you need to stiffen the upper to resist the loading.

Not nearly as surprised as I was :ugh2:

I didn’t think about this earlier but if you won’t have a foundation that is below the frost line, then it’s going to heave. I probably wouldn’t tie this into you’re existing house.

How old was the ladder?

Rusty 11-17-2019 02:57 PM

Was watching the Ravens - Titans game. The Ravens was blowing out the Titans. 34 to 0. The network switched to the Bronco's - Viking's game. :rofl2:

Do they get much frost that far south? Not saying I would attach this as is but it might not move much.

Has a few years on it but not terribly old. Hard to tell now as I conveyed my disappointment in its performance by taking it out to the driveway and beating it against the concrete a couple dozen times.

Now THIS is a ladder. Fairly confident I could safely have an orgy on it with four Venezuelan hookers.
