Was thinking of a footer with one row of block, 12 thick gravel bed inside, then capped with 8" 5000 psi concrete with rebar.

My parking area around the front of the house is 6" thick, 5000 psi concrete with rebar, sitting on 12" thick gravel bed. And that's 50 yards of concrete.

I keep 1,500 rounds of .233 , and 500 rounds of 40 S&W in the motorhome.

I'm not sure how much loaded ammo I have, I haven't bothered counting. :ugh2:

I know for sure I have about 2k in 5.56, 1k in .45, about 500 in .308 and some in 380, 9, 357, 40, and a few other calibers. I need to clear the bench and build some more...

In the past several days I've had several people tell me not to bother with the ATI damper. The tolerances are extremely tight (too tight, frankly, I'm told) and can sometimes make it damn near impossible to install on the crank. It's just a damper; it's not really prone to failure. So why bother I guess is the thinking...

Anyone else seen or heard similar things on the ATI dampers?

JARblue 11-18-2019 08:24 AM

Kevin estimated $1200-1400 for engine work (oil galley gaskets and oil pump gears), but the estimate includes parts. I expect I'll spend closer to $1500 by the time I add in a few extra tasks for him while the front timing cover is off.

Gonna look to drop the Z off with him in a couple of months. Early Jan would be ideal, but the goal is to get that work done before my birthday in early Feb so I can take it out that week.

I'm not sure, but I think all the diagonal stuff is support until all the sides are up and he starts tying it all together. I think I'd have poured a 6" slab and bolted the sides to that. It would give me some support for a lift.....

There’s no impact if your driveway heaves other than cosmetic. If your garage heaves if could have some major issues. Especially if it doesn’t displace evenly throughout.

On the design. I assume you are referring to footer interchangeably with what I’m calling chain wall. You are probably on the right path. Just remember there is such a thing as too much rebar. The concrete code has both a Amin and Amax for steel area in a slab.

Chain wall, footer. Just about the same thing.

I park a 41,000 lb motor home On that 6" of concrete for the last 7 years. Knock on wood. No cracks so far.

With a floating slab, you shouldn’t have any issues unless you develop a void or something. That would likely come from poor construction and knowing you, you probably supervised so they wouldn’t do anything stupid.

You're walking out the door. What can they do to you. I've seen guys walking out with company property. :icon14:

About a month before I retired. I had a bunch of paperwork to fill out. Every time it asked what race. I wrote Alien-Hybrid. It got kicked back, and they wanted me to change it. Filled it out again with the same answer and turn it in. Got kicked back again. Do the same thing all over again. After the 3rd time. It went through. :rofl2:
