Double Action, Single Action. Double Action, you squeeze the trigger to cockk the hammer and let it fall. Single Action, the hammer is already cocked when you squeeze the trigger. Like the 1911.

I'z up. I think.

Something in the bedroom is calling out my name. Think it missing me. Think it's my pillow.

Got it.

Ghost, I'm not sure if the P229 was DA or SA. This trigger moved for the first (largest) portion of its travel with almost no resistance; light pressure from the trigger finger was enough. However the last portion of the movement required much more pressure, at which point it would fire. It required that for every shot.

The P229 is a DA/SA gun. It can be fired with the hammer down and a round in the chamber with a long pull of the trigger. After the first round, it becomes a SA firearm, the hammer is cocked when the fired round is ejected. The 1911 has to be cocked before it will fire from the hammer down, usually when you rack the slide to chamber a round.

I carried a Sig pretty much every day for almost twenty years in my law enforcement life. Love the gun but I was way more accurate with S&W 686 wheel gun (revolver). The deal with Sig is you got get use to the little lag in the trigger pull before it engages. If you rush the pull instead of squeezing all the way through you it will cause you to throw or pull your rounds depending on your grip on the gun. You can not anticipate the trigger fall!

My SIG goes almost everywhere with me. It took me awhile to get used to shooting it because of the trigger (used to the 1911...) I like the number of rounds in the mag (14) and I also carry an extra mag. Call me overly paranoid, but I keep a rifle in the car too.

I probably have a revolver like you had; got it from my Pappy; who got it from his Pappy...1957 model S&W .38 revolver- like brand new
My Grandpa got it from a Police Officer in 58’ or 59’ w/holster
Has had fewer than 20 rounds put through it
