Overdrive
 
This is another one that kids can't do in vintage cars.Put the car in Overdrive.(Some cars had this factory but a lot of vintage cars had overdrive boxes added)
Push in overdrive knob.Back off accelerator.Push accelerator all the way down.Get up to your speed and back off accelerator.Now overdrive is engaged.

I still miss the little button on the floorboard for your left foot that operated your high-beams.
