Weird, I've never heard of Fluiddrive until now. Pretty interesting.

Chrysler also had a Clutchflite. An automatic with a clutch. Those were big back in the day with drag racers. Drop the clutch and auto shift.

Until I was on this forum I did not relise what a big deal it is.I must be the only one who looked for an AT car.The car has a level 10 built transmission and shifts fast.
Learned to drive 3 on the tree.Drove over the road for years(15 speed).Have 66 Vette with stick.
Do not want to open this debate again. Now days with the modern transmissions if you want to go fast you get AT.You want to have fun you get a stick.

You have never driven a stick until you have driven 3 on the tree. Hanging up the gears going from 1st to 2nd or was it 2nd to 3rd was always fun. I don't remember. Pull over, pop the hood, and unfunk it at the column linkage. So much fun.

This should offend someone.

The French just rolled out their newest Tank. The tank has a 7 speed transmission.
6 reverse gears and 1 forward gear incase you are attacked from behind.

Hey, I am offended by that.. At least you didn't say it was A/T too. That would also hurt my feeling even more... Haters.... :shakes head:

Interesting ideas!

Spooler, regarding the 3 on the tree, I actually just looked that up to see how it worked. Well before my time.

Yeap, I drove a truck like that when I was 15 working on a farm with tobacco and watermelons. I learned to drive with a trailer behind me. LOL Most hated vehicle was a FarmHaul truck. that sucker won't go straight to save it's life. It had so much play in the steering box it wasn't funny. Never liked getting over 50mph on the road. I even drove an old army ambulance like in MASH. LOL

I remember trying to power shift my dads 64 ford wagon w/ 3 on the tree from first to second :shakes head: it was a no go

No, that's alright. I'll just let you shoulder the responsibility of defending those states' idiotic decisions.

Next car was a Chrysler Windsor with 'Fluiddrive'... it had 3 pedals and you could column shift it (3 on the tree) or you could drive it like an automatic... really strange, but handy when one hand was full.... ;)

Being a kid that hung around and worked at gas stations in the 60s / 70s in the " Motor City " and across the river from Windsor, I've never heard of the Chrysler Windsor or remember that trans  and that was before I started smoking weed :ugh2:
