Question for you smart people...... Can a publicly traded company remove a position if the person quits? Let's say Bob was hired as an estimating manager and that position hadn't

Question for you smart people......
Can a publicly traded company remove a position if the person quits? Let's say Bob was hired as an estimating manager and that position hadn't been available before. Bob quits and the company no longer has that position open or available for other employees.
