Trump need to deliver for his base and the Dems are not about to let it happen. So far Trump has only been able to give his supporter small wins and the Republicans are not helping him. His efforts with health care failed miserably. His only real wins have been with trade and a lot of American companies are hurting because of some of those moves. His efforts to bolster the military have fallen flat and have put our troops at risk. Our government is in chaos and they are so self focused none of us matter. Tax cuts...really were is the money be made up. The US debt is higher than ever and has grown faster than the previous administration. We all should be pissed weather you are for Trump or not he and our congressional leadership are failing us.
This is a pretty great summary. It doesn't help that Health Care is such a huge issue to tackle. I have no doubt if the Republicans really had a better platform, they'd have unveiled it, but short of cutting coverage (again) for people with pre-existing conditions, you're not going to cut the cost of health care, and you're not going to stop the costs from rising, unless you make some pretty aggressive moves elsewhere in the sector. Right now a massive portion of the cost of healthcare goes into administration and advertising (up to 25% and 15%, respectively). Eliminating that is very tricky to do. Chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease have also increased - responsible for as much as 85% of health care costs for spending that actually goes towards providing care.

Sickest 5% of the population are 50% of the total health care cost. Blows my mind.

I have an idea about why diabetes and heart disease have increased, Americans eat like they live on a farm, but don't do farm level work. I travel a little bit (not near as much as onzedge) but what I've observed is that the average American is carting around 50 -75 pounds (or more) than what is healthy. We have gotten out of the habit of fixing our own meals from scratch because we work 10-12 hours a day to keep up with the Jones'. Health care is a service derived from someone's labor. You don't have a right to the fruits of my labor...

This is on-point. One of my wife's uncles constantly rants about healthcare costs. He's overweight, has diabetes, and has had 3 heart surgeries. It's tempting to tell him to shut up, people like him are the reason the costs are high.

This was a pic I snapped in Norheimsund at around 12:30 am. This was about as dark as it got in early June - a little dusky. Pretty cool.

I remember my mom telling me in the early 70s that you Black never really suffered from heart disease, cancer or diabetes and such because we work in the fields and eat food grown in our gardens and so forth. She said now we are starting to see the same kind of health problems as White people because more Blacks live in the City and have White people jobs!

That goodness for welfare and other entitlement programs that keep the working poor and others down. Marginalization is no longer a racist affair!

It's our society that we have created in this country. Fast foods, processed foods. We hardly anymore eat fresh foods. Why grow it when you can go the the store to get it.

This spring. I'm putting in a couple of raised garden beds in the back yard. 4'x8', 2 of them to start. Grow some of my own veggies like I did back in the 80's. My dad always had a garden and canned his stuff. I'm going to start doing that too.

Nothing beats the quality of self grown produce! What are you planning on planting?

Carrots, onions, lettuce, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, potatoes, herbs. That's what I want. Don't know about the wifey.

mmm.. cherry tomatoes, I could snack on those things all day. Onions are hard to kill. We had some in our back yard, and they kept growing every season without even trying to replant them. Sounds like a good variety you have in mind!

Come home from work and had to get the snow blower out. First time I used this year. Had about 6" of Al Gore sitting on the ground. It's going to be 46F tomorrow.

I like growing my own veggies. I just don't have the time anymore. Wifey won't help. Keeping the weeds out is an undertaking. I haven't planted any mustard greens the last 2 winters either. Work just wants more and more.

I know what you mean on time. I figure I got some time now. I'm doing the raised bed. The beds are going to be about 10" high. Using wood to form the beds. It will be easier to keep the rabbits out too.

That's what I'm planning on doing. If I let the rabbits in. I could make rabbit stew. I'll have everything right there to make it.
