just read an article of an interview on the next GT-R. it may have the best quote ever about the GT-R in general.

“It doesn’t care what every other supercar in the world is doing; it simply says: ‘I’m a GT-R, I’m a brick, catch me.’ It’s the world’s fastest brick, really. And when I review sketches for the new car, I say that a lot: “Less wing, more brick.'”

My claim to fame: After active duty, I joined an Army Reserve Unit. We were on our monthly drill out at Camp Parks just training on basic Soldiering skills. I was appointed to be a Sunken Chest Wound victim while other soldiers were performing first aid on me. This was during the summer, full battle rattle on. I lost count of how many soldiers had gone through my station, but laying on my back pretending to be a casualty, I started dozing off.
Suddenly I hear this BOOMING Voice say "WHAT THE HECK DO WE HAVE HERE?". Open my eyes, about to yell at the human megaphone, then I see this Kevlar band with the word KIDD written on it, and above that, more Chevrons, leave, branches, stars etc that Ive ever seen on a rank. Command Sergent Major of the freakin Army Kidd looking down at me. LT, CO, Battalion Commander and CSM, and a photographer all around....Only thing I could think of was "Sergent Major of the Army! Im providing realistic training, as a real casualty would not be conscious and coherent!".... with that, SMA Kidd responded "OUTSTANDING! CARRY ON!" ...whew!

Always hated when they used the word OUTSTANDING!. You knew you was caught, and it's all BS. :rofl2:

As long as its paid hours. One of my clients likes to have a bi weekly conference call when I'm not scheduled to do work for them. I charge for the hour even if is only a 15 min call
My last "real job" used to pay us 250 just for being on call for the week.

Would you have gotten in trouble if you couldnt make the meeting?

It's funny how it seemed anyone at least 3 levels above you in the chain of command, were always the hardest on you no matter what rank you were Anything higher than that and they seem to be the nicest people in the world...

StevenSlice 07-16-2018 03:38 PM

I almost witnessed 3 accidents within a span of the 5 minute drive on my lunch break. A majority of Cali drivers astound me with how bad of drivers they are. Makes me scared every time i get in the car

He was willing to buy me dinner. :rofl2: I was working in fatigues at the time with no name or anything on them. And I didn't salute him. Never did. :D

Crappy officer! I'm sure those in his previous commands thought the same of him.
I have an old army buddy who was a mustang (went enlisted to officer). He was in town for a conference and he took a full bird along with him when we met up for dinner and drinks. I swear if I hadn't known any better, I would've thought that colonel was a brand new private in basic training on his first weekend pass..lol

The house I'm living in now, belonged to a col. He taught ROTC at the local college for awhile. He wasn't to bad. My neighbor's dad was a 1 star general in the Air Force. Biggest azzhole I've ever known.:rofl2: He was so full of himself. Even after retirement. He still though of himself still in. Couldn't adjust to being a civiy. Barked orders to everyone. It was funny when I told him to go pound salt one day.

I think I need to buy a place next to work. I kinda want to sit in my lazyboy until I have to go back on campus.

Ian B 07-16-2018 09:09 PM

Long day off today. Got up, went to get tire set from forum member, took rears to get new tires installed, went to some last second work mandatory meeting across town, came back to 5 o’clock traffic home, replaced front tires, packed, and left to spend night at sister to relax.

When I go into the woods. I always pack. You never know what you might run into. A wild animal, meth head, moonshiner, or a pot farmer.

More good news! Tried a new 2032 battery made in Japan and my fob started working again! bad news! Ecutek bluetooth module seems to be killing the distance the fob works at, by a lot.

Yeah I saw that thread. Decided to stick with the cable I got and not be jealous that I don't have the BT module that came out shortly after I picked up my cable :)

Good morning everyone :hello:

Yup I actually just disconnected mine too. I'll plug it in when I'm in the car if I'm going to use it, otherwise I'm taking it out.

Exciting morning. Looks like there was a big explosion at our facility last night. We're still determining root cause, but it looks like an electrician doing work for our facility inadvertently shut off the water cooling for our hydrogen furnaces, causing a water jacket failure. Steam pressure built up outside the retort, and actually blew a 1200 lb retort out of the ground, shattered every window in the department, and did a fair amount of damage to our recorders and various electrical systems.

Neat!

Wow! Nice.

One of my machining gigs was making electrodes for EDM machines. They are made out of graphite and we had a transformer over our four milling machines... about twice a year the graphite dust would build up and BANG! fireball flying :icon17: It was right above our computers where we would do the CAD and programming. Knocked me off the chair one time, thought I was ded. Had to check to make sure my shoes were still on. :icon17:

I dont envy having to recalibrate/re-certify all the crap in your office.
