New is preferred but with wanting to get a lower payment, may not be feasible.

Glad to know I have a remote chance of surviving a decent crash.

Found a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. May go test it out. I'm not afraid of newer Hyundais. Seems they've come a long way from being a joke of the auto world. Still stay away from all things Kia though.

Just so you know, Kia & Hyundai are made by the same folks.... :eekdance:

Check out the Optima too. Basically same car but more handsome, in my opinion.

If I get the Cayman, I'll probably do most of the service myself, outside of heavy work (clutch and the like). I'm looking at moving to a house after the first of the year, so I'll have garage space to work on stuff again. I've got almost as much $$ tied up in tools as I do in my Z.... :ugh2:

that would be awesome, because i'm thinking they would probably try to charge you like $200 for an oil change or something. sometimes the upkeep is more than the car itself :icon14:

Tires and my driving are the only reason my wife hates the Z. I spend nearly $2K per year on tires. One full set plus a 2nd set of rears is standard for me.

She doesn't seem to understand that I could have paid for a new-to-me DD with two years worth of tire funds.

Yeah, oil changes on the Porsche at the dealer are in the $200 range. I think the car uses about 8 quarts of 0W40, so in oil alone, it's about $75. Fortunately, I can get Mobil One for 10% over cost when I buy it from CarQuest.

At least Hyundai makes an attempt to impress. Both korean junk, just 1 less so than the other.

I can't do any Kia after watching a Forte catch on fire, 2 Optima's get the key stuck in the ignition not allowing the car to turn off, and a Sorento hatch hinge start to rust after a year of ownership.

Which is why I do so much research before I decide, all the way down to tires. If I get the Cayman, it will probably be a summer only car; tires for it are in the same range as the 19" tires for the Z, about $1500 a set. A separate tire fund is a must, $3k annually to keep both toys in shoes, takes a little planning.

If you're scared about the optima I wouldn't bother with a sonata. The gen youre looking at are mechanically and electrically the same. I've had both as rentals and very little difference outside of styling

Looks like they are redesigning it for '18, might be able to pick up an older one on a lot for a decent price. Fingers crossed for ya.

I wish. All the lawn equipment needs to have oil changed, generator is up for oil change, cut down all the BS plants that are not annuals. Its really not that bad, just time consuming. Silver lining is I get to work outside and enjoy the cooler fall temps.
