Got 4 (good) offers on the Z today. Looks like I may depart the family soon.

I've driven the Rogue, Juke, RAV-4 & CR-V. So far, I'm really leaning towards the Juke, mainly because there are a crap load of CR-Vs & RAV-4s around here, not too many Jukes. Since the Juke has a turbo, with a good exhaust & tune, I can get a little more 'scoot' out of it. Plus I can get butt-warmers without having to spend an arm and a leg on the Toyota & Honda...

CVTs are ****. You'll hate yourself for buying one. I had one paired to a VQ and hated it and they're worse on the 4cyl.

Agreed. The only one I didn't completely hate was on the QX60, paired with the 3.5 though I am uncertain if that is the same CVT between Nissan and Infiniti

If I go with the Juke, I'll get a 6MT. They are a little harder to find but will be worth the effort. I drove a RAV4 in Cali, I kept thinking I was driving a gearboxed car and kept pushing it into park after backing up...... :ugh2:

Same one from the Pathfinder. QX60 is just a Pathfinder in a suit.

 Is the 6MT juke still FWD only?

Yeah more I think about it I remember hearing it was the same trans with different electronics/tune.

Other than drastically needing more power, and having the CVT live in sport mode in a poor effort to co pens ate it drove ok. Though it is my ex that DD's it not me so I haven't put a ton of miles of it myself.

Regardless I'd never consider a CVT for myself in any capacity.

If you guys had 8k to spend on a reliable winter rat. What would it be?

Same here. CVTs are fine for 99% of people, just not for people like us :D. For daily driving it is just fine. I'm actually considering a Qx60 for the wife as the new family hauler. We'll see.

It's been an excellent vehicle in that capacity. We got it shortly after our twins were born. I always teased it was a minivan on 20's which drover her nuts, but it really isn't. Crossover between minivan and SUV if I had to place it somewhere. Nice to drive, but could use more engine if I was going to DD it. Perfect for her though.

I like the new RX350, but it's smaller than the QX60 and MDX. Hell she likes the Highlander, might just get that and call it a day.

What are you looking for? CUV/SUV, sedan? Anything in that range will probably be older and higher mileage unfortunately so it's a crap shoot.

The new then (current) Highlander hadn't hit the market at the time (was a few months or so off) or it may have been up for consideration as well. A gently used Q7 was actually my first choice, but princess couldn't have a vehicle someone else had driven.

Old *** cavalier, you wont be stylin' but it will go through the snow and not cost you a ton in repairs. Bonus, who gives a **** if you get dings, hit a snow bank or whatever. Save money and it will get you from point a to point b.
