That is rather astounding. How do they just fail like that and how does a mandated safety device not becovered by any form of a warranty??

Dealer wants nearly $6K now for airbag stuff (up from unofficial $3K estimate). Warranty company has a specific provision that does not cover airbags.

Selling the car is now very prominent in my mind (at a major loss due to the airbag crap). Shame on them for making me even consider it :(

My exact reaction :shakes head:

I immediately called my Honda dealer to ask them about coverage on the Accord. They didn't know, but she immediately emailed the contract language. Airbags and related components are fully included. No ridiculous provisions.

Are you going to escalate this? I would.

Leingod 10-11-2016 09:07 AM

Yea, you've got to escalate it. That's just insane. Hell, send a few nicely worded letter to the NHTSA or something.

JARblue 10-11-2016 09:10 AM

Search for a new daily driver has begun (not too seriously tho).

Found a 2008 MT Honda Fit with only 153K miles for $3K :icon17:

I'm in touch with Andrew (DEpointfive0) regarding the best way of going about this.
