So I got a droid 2 global a couple months back. I finally rooted it (mostly to get rid of the bloatware), but before I did any modifying, I saw

So I got a droid 2 global a couple months back. I finally rooted it (mostly to get rid of the bloatware), but before I did any modifying, I saw that we can't download the new gingerbread update with a modified phone. Since gingerbread isn't available to me yet, I guess I have to wait. Am I understanding all of that correctly?
