Personally, if you need a keyboard, wait for the Droid 2. If you want something w/ a touch screen? I'd get an Incredible unless you MUST have a **** TON of screen real estate. In which case, get the Droid X...but that things battery life is going to suck, Im guessing.

Ok, Yeah my blackberry's battery sucks. You are saying they are better than the storm 2 though?

I came from a BB Curve 8330. While the BBOS is...decent, its not as nice as Android IMHO.

And just about anything is better than the Storm 2 lol - BB's touch screen venture failed :-p.

tap and hold down the area where you enter text the input method menu will pop up

Trips 06-24-2010 11:21 PM

I have a question, when you use the Nav ap, and type in the address of the location to Nav to, there is a list that pops up of past search's. How can you delete an entry on that list? I have some on the list that were put in wrong, and I've tried holding down on the incorrect entry with no luck in deleting it. Anyone know how to do this?

i've been wanting some more live desktops, is there a good place to find ones? i'd really like to have ones made by google or at least supplied through them. i've never looked but is there a place to find live desktops on the market? at least a legit place?

Ok, thanks alot for the info! Yeah, the touchscreen on my bb storm2 makes me want to throw it out my car window, GRRR!

Ironically, the Storm1's biggest complaint was its irritating touch screen. The Storm 2 was SUPPOSED to fix it. So much for that...

BB's quality just has seemed to go downhill terribly lately.

You wont be disappointed with the Incredible, Droid 2, and possibly the Droid X (I'd wait for battery reports on that one, personally).

just a quick comment on the new keyboard matt posted on the previous page... MUCH better imo. the key spacing on the screen is a little better and it seems a little more intuitive as to where i'm trying to touch the screen, even with my big fat thumbs. loving this new keyboard

Want to get a smartphone but not eligible yet? Verizon offers early upgrade! slight YMMV - SlickDeals.net Forums

my droid did that once or twice since i got it. not sure if it was a glitch with android or with handcent sms. that only happened the first few months i had it, it's been good lately.

and wow, we actually have other staff besides kaiser! :icon17:

My wife e-mailed me the following, I assume it may work on Droids also!

5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST
Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find Yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to Establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND
Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot From your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other ' remote ' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Editor ' s Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone! '

THIRD

Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

FOURTH
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone ' s serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone:*#06#.
A 15-digit code will appear on the screen.. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

If your phone gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

And Finally.....

FIFTH
Free Directory Service for Cells

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial:(800)FREE411, or (800) 373-3411without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

i love it, the size takes a little getting used to but now that ive had it for a day or so i wouldnt have it any other way, its actually lighter than the droid 1 and ALOT thinner with no slide out keyboard...

i also like the moto blur stuff dont know why everyone online was so against it..

the need for speed shift game is kinda neat too graphics are very very good for a cell phone

MightyBobo 07-29-2010 09:16 PM

My buddy bought an X (he's in Germany right now), and had it shipped to me. So, I put it together and fiddled - Im impressed! Very snappy!

Oh yeah, I'll second the whole lighter than the Moto Droid 1 (which was surprising, considering the screen size. Its comfortable to hold too - I thought it might be so big it'd be ungainly. If it were between the Moto Droid 2, and the Droid X, I think I'd have to go w/ the X...

HKYStormFront 07-29-2010 11:49 PM

interesting... i might get the X or it's successor when it's time...

im sure a 2Ghz LTE phone will be on the way shortly... i will probably get one of those too since i didnt have to extend my contract this time to get the X... did i tell you how i got it?

i was only 4 months into my 2 year with the droid so i was pretty stuck, i found a girl at my dads office who was up for a new contract...i offered to give her my droid for free and pay her for the X... so she got a free phone and i got the X a bundled with the HDMI dock and cable all for like 260 with tax... thought i came out ok on that deal... i technically have the 200 from the old droid in the deal but thats spent money so not that big of a loss eating the original droid cost

HKYStormFront 07-30-2010 01:29 AM

yea that's cool, i didn't know they'd let you do that but i guess they can't argue if someone wants to forfeit their upgrade to get your phone. it's def a good deal for them if they want what you have

MC 07-30-2010 01:52 AM

you can log into myverizon at any time and change the ESN/MEID #'s then just dial *228 and its done...

she didnt really forfeit her upgrade i mean the droid 1 stopped shipping this week and verizon was doing like $149 on them with a renewal so i look at it like i saved her $150
