have you tried the free version of pdnet for tethering? it works very good, in fact I'm in the middle of parking lot posting this.

HKYStormFront 05-13-2010 07:36 PM

ever since the 2.1 update, my phone has getting more and more sluggish. a couple times now i've had an incoming call and it's like the phone freezes. my ringtone plays, i try to slide to answer but get no response. then the call just goes on as if i didn't touch it and sends the caller to voicemail. anyone else had an issue with this? also my GPS absolutely refuses to connect once in a while, particularly when i need it to.

Have you reset it? Have you added any aps lately? task killer ap is a big culprit for making droids to run slow. I uninstalled it, and mine is back to its quick self again

Without TaskKiller, you will have tons of stuff running the background, slowing the Droid down. Just curious, but what makes you think TaskKiller slows the Droid down? I've seen the opposite effect with my phone.

I'm also a member of the Android forum, and this ap has been discussed. And in some cases removing the app will make it run like its supposed to, some people with slowness issues that had this ap installed found as soon as they removed it the droid felt a lot faster than with the app. I have also removed the ap and found it also that it improved the performance. I think the ap is using to much of the memory to monitor what apps are running. Remember task killer is always on. This is only a suggestion in the event he has this ap :tiphat:

HKYStormFront 05-13-2010 10:21 PM

yea i rely on taskiller for what it does but you may have a point. i did change from a live background to a fixed one and that seems to help some

MightyBobo 05-13-2010 11:09 PM

I found a new App which I love. Key Ring Reward Cards by Froogloid, LLC.

If you have a lot of reward zone-type cards (think like Best Buy or American Eagle) that either rack up points or simply give you a discount, it will let you scan the barcodes (or you can enter manually if you prefer) and organize them in your phone.

Then, when you go to the store, you open the app, find the store you're in, and it re-creates the barcode for the cashier to scan. Just in case the scan isn't working (cleaning the screen helps), it'll also re-create the number itself for the cashier to manually enter.

It made my wallet thinner :)

MightyBobo 05-14-2010 07:04 AM

And how awesome is that? Anything Android 2.2 will have USB tethering built in for free, along with the ability to turn your phone into a WiFi hot spot.

I thought TaskKiller was always on if you're using the widget...not the app? When I use TaskKiller, I will often find a dozen or more programs running. How do you guys close these programs if you're not using TaskKiller. If you're not closing them, I would think that would have to be zapping your available memory and draining the battery.

Has anyone got their droid to transfer contact via bluetooth yet? I thought 2.1 enabled this function?

Trips 05-21-2010 12:42 PM

I'm waiting for the fix!!

jikhead 05-21-2010 04:47 PM

I have the new Incredible and although I haven't BT'th a contact file...I have BT'th a picture to test it and that worked fine.

HKYStormFront 05-23-2010 07:18 PM

theDreamer 05-26-2010 08:48 AM

I am liking the build in tethering, rarely need it but it is nice to have.
5 home screens is wonderful, can stop using that program (seems to crash once a week for me).

According to the spec sheet? It looks disappointing. Only a 750mhz processor (ours is ~600mhz), which is weak. Almost anything coming out now is a Snapdragon (1.0ghz). I cant help but wonder why they are only going with a 750...

Other than that, the keyboard is much nicer (since our D-pad was worthless). WiFi Tethering is coming to anything running 2.2 I believe.

Im not blown away - I'll happily be waiting for my New Every Two to come up before I get something, and it WILL be something with LTE.

theDreamer 06-11-2010 06:55 AM

Not overly impressed with Droid 2, I was expecting something like the Incredible but with just a keyboard. I know they are made by different companies, but they should be packing more into Droid 2. Also, Motorola just stated two days ago they want a 2ghz Android phone by the end of the year, WTF is up with them using a 750mhz cpu?

Precisely. An Incredible with a keyboard...the concept makes my wee wee do funny things.

bigaudiofanat 06-11-2010 08:12 AM

I have to agree I need a real keyboard for all the replies I do and comments I leave. Although I am about to take my devour back and get the incredible anyway.....as soon as they get them in.

Oh yeah, and no specific timeline on 2.2 for Droid1 yet. I'd say a month or two?

Looks like Motorola's version of the Incredible to me.

Just looked at the post on Engadget. Yeah, sure looks like Moto's version of the Incredible - 1ghz Snapdragon and all. HDMI-out is hot...

what exactly was the point of that post?

that "Droid X" looks pretty cool. when i got the MotoDroid i thought i needed a full keyboard but i find myself hardly ever using it. i think i'd be happier with an Incredible-style phone with no keyboard. CNET just gave it editors choice of the month and they can't stop singing it's praises. i'll wait to see if motorola comes out with an answer, maybe by that time i'll be due for another upgrade and get it instead (or whatever HTC has at the time, i think i'm done with motorola phones after this one honestly)
