Every part I bought for my car costs $300. Volk TE37 with tires? $300. Nismo intake, exhaust, sway bars, and differential cover? $300. Work CR2P with tires? You guessed it, $300. When it worked the first few times, the lie slowly became a part of me. Now I still tell her, "It's only $300" even if she isn't asking. I really need to stop .

this thread makes me laugh. i bet half the posters in here would go scurrying behind the couch if their wives saw them posting.

i´ve lived through all the stages with my wife. if you are spending money irresponsibly on a car then your wife could and should give you sh!t. if you are well off enough to have some money left at the end of the month but you have to take turns on big purchases, then she should weigh in, but let you do what you want. if you have a budget that has enough in it for both of you to have an "allowance" then she shouldn´t care how you spend it.

i feel blessed to finally have gotten to the final stage and not have to worry, but i don´t forget what it was like to have a passion for cars and barely have enough to pay rent and eat (or for car parts and ramen and a lot bitching and complaining from the wife).

Dont ask permission of course they will say no, just buy what the hell you want...as long as you don't jeopardize the welfare of your family or deprive of a meal and take care of bills like you should...just do it !

I always talk to her about what I want to buy for the cars/guns/electronic as a courtesy, but I've never been told I can't get something. Hey, she drives the car too and needs righteous tunes. The guns are merely to protect her. ...and don't tell me 7.1 surround doesn't make you smile. :-) She has her pressures too (fancy underwear/sparkly things/expensive hair product).

really I think after the money I spent on my '67 mustang build she's a little gun shy now. She's also extremely frugal and practical. Like to the point we got married at the courthouse because she couldn't see any practical purpose to wasting money on a wedding that could be used for a down payment on a house. I guess I got lucky there, just annoying some times.
