HKS Drop-In intake filter went bad

how was this not checked during regular maintenance on the car?

Seriously. Did you not look at the filter for three years? How does that even happen?

I did, they work just fine for 3 years until breaking apart last month, so I guess their lifespan is about 3 years in hot climate.
I checked once in every month or so, the left filter still in great condition, only the right one that breaking apart, thats why I guess i'm countered this problem quite early.

Ok, your first post read like these were left in without checking for three years.
