How much drone is there when cruising at 75? I tried the AAM short tails before and couldn't stand the drone. Also how do the CF mufflers sound compared to SS? I was considering that route too. Thanks VQZ34nismo

VQZ34nismo 03-12-2014 11:54 AM

At that speed there's not much drone, is there, but not as bad as the AAM short tails, I haven't heard the SS in person but I'm glad I went with CF. The sound is amazing.

*****EST SHIP DATE: 3/13-3/27/2014*****
I hope I am closer to the 13th than the 27th. I just don't know if I can make it two more weeks and God forbid if it drags on into April I think I will self destruct.

The last users I saw on list with a confirmed FI in hand were (VQZ34nismo: 904 & genesis2012: 906). Where did you guys fall in your shipping window? Who has the most recent shipping notice and what was your PO number?

VQZ34nismo 03-13-2014 09:56 AM

F.I send the exhausts out on Fridays according to tony when I last talked to him, I'm guessing yours will be sent out on the 21st

I'm 912. My estimated was 3/4-3/18. I haven't gotten the call yet. But I have a feeling it's coming really soon!

TKomodo 03-13-2014 10:55 AM

I was wondering if others have noticed rattling or an excessive hissing noise during acceleration?

I really hope you get yours soon Bro, I'm 922. Hopefully He ships them out a bunch at a time and we'll get ours, I would say the last week of March, as long as it in March, I'll be happy!

isnt that just due to having the VQ engine?

jhalloran004 03-13-2014 02:55 PM

Man I have to stop checking this thread 25 times a day. Getting me so antsy :ughdance:

The hiss on deceleration is normal. Rattling is an install issue.

A noticeable rattling started after I installed the plastic FI license plate holder. Any idea how I can solve that problem? ;)

Go non-res so you can't hear the rattling.

Drew303 03-13-2014 04:05 PM

#934 only a month or so to go!!! (hopefully less!)

The closer that you get, the slower time feels!

The rattling noise is inside the cans and there is a loud hiss on acceleration

I'd be looking for a leak if it's hissing on acceleration. If you shake the can, can you hear something rattling around inside?

TKomodo 03-14-2014 10:18 AM

I haven't removed them to shake them, but it is definitely inside. I've checked for a leak with a mirror and I didn't find any. Maybe the pressure from being supercharged is causing the baffles in the resonators to come apart. sooner or later it will be "un-resonated" :)

Thanks for posting this! It's a very unfortunate situation as to why I am selling my Nismo as well as this spot however it has to be done. :(

damn... only had the exhaust for 2 weeks but I might have to get rid of it. Moved to a new neighborhood with 4 speedbumps and my car is lowered so I have to angle it like crazy... :(

I think I'd raise it back to stock height before going back to the stock exhaust!

genesis2012 03-15-2014 02:50 AM

Lol thought about that.

But the stock height hurts my eyes.

I assume you have nice roads in Orange County. Here in Louisiana, it's like driving on goat paths. I'm leaving the suspension alone. Don't really care to deal with damaging my Z because of potholes, uneven surfaces, or crap falling off of vehicles. At the stock height, a recap torn away from an 18-wheeler tire would be a nightmare for the front end.

genesis2012 03-15-2014 03:01 AM

I think it's time to move, or maybe get a little apartment on the down low for your baby to stay at.

Also, doesn't FI say their exhaust hangs no lower than the stock exhaust. So the issue may still exist if you go back to stock.
