Posted this in another section but I felt like it had to be placed here as well..
So about 3 weeks ago a tow truck from A-AAbandoned Vehicle towed my car in Arlington, Texas.. and they caused cosmetic damages to the CF canisters only.. and it hasn't caused a leak or any performance damages just a nasty scrape, thankfully, but they are damaged.. After taking my car to get inspected and haggling with the tow company they finally cut me a check to reimburse me for the F.I. TDX exhaust (rear CF section only since that was all that was damaged).. So I just got off the phone with Tony, who has been very helpful throughout all of this, and I will be getting it in 6-8 weeks and selling my old one since it's still fully functional after I get the new one on! Soo excited :) |
#974 has shipped and expected on 7/2!!! Carbon fiber CBE, can't wait to get it on!
|
thanks for the video scott!
|
Mine delivers Wednesday too
|
Well, shouldn't be much longer for me. I'm #979.
BTW, I decided to stay with the 12" resonated CF. I think non-resonated with my PPE headers would be too loud. It's pretty loud at start-up now with stock exhaust. |
|
If anybody wants a brand new one right away without waiting......
http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...n-exhaust.html SS, 12" resonators. |
How long is the wait time if I were to order today?
|
Around 7 weeks.
|
FYI. 2014 Sport Model. No Evap cover on mine. When putting on the new exhaust, any suggested Torque settings for the bolts or just hand tight? Thanks.

63 days +/- until exhaust #1021 arrives. To help pass the time I've come up with some other mods for my husband to do.

Just received my tracking number today :) My exhaust is due to arrive next Thursday however I'll be out of town :( So it may have to stay packed away for awhile before I can install it. Here I wait forever for my FI exhaust and won't be able to install it...talk about bad timing :(

I've had my exhaust on since August I think? and it still sounds amazing ~15k+ miles later. Finally got around to polishing the tips also, and they look like mirrors again! I highly recommend mother's mag and aluminum polish. Works great.

I finally joined the F.I family! :)
12" res SS according to the seller. I have a question though: I dropped it off at the shop for install. And from the outside and what I can see, it looks good. However, there's a strong gas smell coming from the car. I hope this is normal and because the pipes are still new and will go away soon, and not because the shop forgot to use wrap on the lines...can anybody confirm? Thanks. |
the first couple hours that I had my HFC & Exhaust installed I definitely smelled some odor - its essentially chemicals burning off the exhaust.
I think I was driving my car for around 3 - 5 hours before all the smell was gone. probably like 50 miles of city driving, if i recall. |

The oils that sometime coat the pipes will need some time to burn off and is in no need an indication something is wrong, Just give it a few heat cycles and you'll be fine. Welcome to the FI Family from #95  |

Finally got around to installing my cat-back. NOW I have a real sports car that sounds like one. My only disappointment after buying my 'Z," was that it didn't sound much different than my Dodge Caravan..haha. Well all that has now changed. I am not a mechanic-tech, but have had classic cars before. I am fortunate to have a 4-post lift in my garage and that made the install easy. It's not really rocket science...unbolt the old one, install the new one. Went without a hitch. Well the only issue was that my sockets had trouble unbolting the existing nuts and I slightly stripped the first one. A quick trip to Lowe's and buying a 14mm 6-point socket, solved that problem. It just grabbed the nut much snugger. I just put my socket on it with a breaker bar and BINK, quickly freed up the nut. After that the install was perfect and easy. Very pleased. Note: Went with the 18-inch resonated version.

Congrats and enjoy the beautiful sound!
|
Thanks much! :)

So those of you that have an FI exhaust on your car...is it any lower than stock? Or if same depth, is the lowest point the same as stock?
I ask because I've had my Z for 5 weeks as DD and the only time I scrape anything, it's the outside edges of the sport package front dam pulling into and out of my driveway...barely scraping, but scraping nonetheless no matter the angle, speed, etc. So if the FI kit doesn't change the exhaust profile as to height under the car, that's where I'll be headed... |

Does anyone know the overall weight of the non resonated exhaust? On F.I. website, it says the system is 47lbs, 10lbs lighter than stock, but doesn't give specifics on which version of the exhaust its referring to.

FI Exhaust installed by Agent K
Well, I installed the FI exhaust yesterday. Installation went smooth no major issues. It took about 1 to 1.5 hours from start to finish. Compared to installing my headers, this was a walk in the park; no leaks, no SES light. The tips aren't perfectly center of the rear valence openings but no big deal and I have the infamous hiss now. The craftsmenship is top notch and the packaging of the parts was exceptional.
Anyway, the Z now sounds like it should. It sounds pretty much the same as on FI website: 370Z_ Header.wmv: 370Z_ Header.wmv - YouTube I got a 'thumbs up' from my neighbor as I pulled the Z out of the garage :) The exhaust thunders to life at start up then settles into a nice audible grumble. This exhaust is insane when you start dipping into the throttle. And WOT is just crazy insane. Added bonus: POWER. The butt dyno is doing the happy dance :happydance: The headers /FI exhaust combo pushed my cousin and I back in the seats when I punched it in 2nd gear; haven't felt that feeling since my turbo chipped Audi. Thanks Tony and the FI crew. |
Oh the wait is killing me....gimme the exhaust now!
|
Anyone get a tracking number?

Fast Intentions exhaust is here! (continued)

No I still have a two months to go. The wait is excruciating!. But while we're waiting my hubs & his injured shoulder are going to install the RJM Performance clutch today. If we can get through this, the exhaust will be a piece of cake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd like to thank nearly everyone on this forum with all the tips, tricks, and DIYs available. I've been able to have all my questions answered with quick searches for every mod I worked on my Z, consequently this is my first post on the forum! Since my Feb purchase of a black '09 370z T-Sp I've recently installed Z1 Post-MAF tubes with K&N drop ins, replaced engine and gear oils with Red Line, and have researched extensively for many other mods next to be performed. I cannot wait to have my incoming FI 12" res CF CBE w/ FI res HFCs installed and enjoy the wonderful sounds this VQ37VHR can produce! |
Anyone on here thinking of ordering this exhaust but don't feel like waiting on the wait list? Here's your chance to purchase this exhaust that has barely been used and not have to wait!

Do any of you guys know if a 12/18 inch x pipe for the 370z will fit on a g37 directly?
