#884, sorry. Just checked. I posted that from my phone and I didn't have the invoice in front of me.

I just placed an order for 12" SS resonated. I can't wait!!

Anyone has the FI CBE + FI HFC?? How is it?

Videos of the the set-up?

I'm considering Berk HFC or FI HFC. I can't make up my mind!!

exsanity 01-06-2014 07:39 PM

I ordered cbe and hfc resonated.

That set up is money bro. Its an amazing sound. Have had mine for a few weeks. Its loud.

Riptide67 01-07-2014 09:56 PM

Anyone have non-res pipes they would be willing to trade for 12" resonated pipes? Worth a shot :)

Looking for more loud!!!!

XBarbarian 01-08-2014 12:12 PM

haven't posted here in a while..

but I thought I would come back in, and express my continued love of my F.I. system on my Z. I continue to regularly get stopped by other car fans, etc, even local sheriff's have pulled up beside me at a light, rolled the windows down.. and tell me how my they love the look, and sound of F.I. Z system!

Thanks Tony and the F.I. crew!

Adam.LV 01-08-2014 05:37 PM

Just had mine installed today (cf non res) and couldn't be happier. I was a little nervous about the non res being too loud but I'm glad I went with it. For me is perfect volume. Looks and sounds great!

XBarbarian 01-09-2014 09:25 AM

Grats Adam.LV

ya.. I suspect non res is loud.. but manageable with manual.

I went Automatic.. which I sometimes regret now, although, for DD.. and lots of stop starts.. its more comfortable

for auto Tony rightly steered me to resonated..18".. and Im glad I did. Its loud enough.. and sounds sweet!

I would HIGHLY recommend going Fast Intentions HFCs, or even FI RHFCs. The quality is without a doubt 2nd to none! The HFCs add the sound you want making it deeper and throatier & performance wise immediatly open up your low end.

I have ran RHFCs paired with 18" SS catback on my G37...loved it, but always wanted a "litttttle bit morrrrre". On my Nismo, I run RHFCs paired with a NONresonated X in my SS catback and absolutely LOVE IT!!!

I have vids of both on my YouTube (clicky), and the Nismo vids on my Build Thread (clicky)

Good luck on your decision! Can't go wrong w/ either of the FI products!

Haha true. I'm still debating. I heard the Berk HFC combo with FI 18" resonated and fell in love with it.

I will have to find more forum members and hear it in person before I make a decision. Even then, I'm sure either or would/will sound just as bad *ss

:iagree: The berk HFCs with FI 18" Res sounds really good.

Anyone with Ark Grip combo with FI HFC?

Does anyone know what size washers (like hole size or whatever) i need to lower one muffler? I need to put a couple washers on the right hangar since the muffler sometimes rattles on the metal cross member thingy(for a lack of better words lol). I need to lower it just a smidge to get it aligned with the left.

All help greatly appreciated.

5/16 size did the trick for me, if I recall correctly.

wackjum 01-09-2014 11:56 PM

I used 1/4" and it was a perfect fit. Be sure to get galvanized ones so they don't rust.

Hello,

The 2.5" true dual FI TDX seems the way to go for my GTM MHI kit. The entire exhaust looks just BEAUTIFUL

Wanted to ask what the U Bent O2 sensor non-foulers do. Do they prevent the check engine light from coming on, which would otherwise happen due to increased exhaust flow?

Secondly, how do the 300 cell FI cats compare to the 200 cell cats from the likes of Berk/Erz/Stillen? Even better flow? Would they mate to the 2.5" TDX CBE?

Thirdly, I find the resonated catback still too quiet and civilised. Therefore I want to go with the non-resonated X-pipe. But in my quest for yet a little more exhaust noise, would the carbon mufflers help over the SS mufflers or do they sound the same? What about the 4.5" resonated tips? Looking at the Saclam exhaust tips, one can see slits as if they were non-resonated. Might this trick give them this orgasmic F1 sound track? Maybe a small DIY job might achieve the same. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your advice :driving:

JayZ1 01-10-2014 07:38 PM

Any new tracking numbers?

nhbpcivicsi 01-10-2014 08:03 PM

how long would it normally take to receive the exhaust from when the order is placed?

I heard 2-3 month. I think it's nearing 2 for me.

exsanity 01-10-2014 09:39 PM

Anyone know what number we're on now?

cooltoy 01-10-2014 11:00 PM

I think up to ~ 870 got theirs. Give or take.

exsanity 01-10-2014 11:02 PM

Cool.. Thanks,

RoyaltyB 01-11-2014 12:20 AM

May be a little past that. Think it has been about a week since 870 has posted. It's possible some of those sold may not be forum members or part of this thread. Regardless it will be worth the wait. :)

Is there any reason why you didn't go with the 3" version? When I was NA and had the 2.5" version, the exhaust note was something serious and I had the 18" resonators. Funny thing is that the the 3" non-resonated, it is quieter on a turbo setup. It is civilized until my DPs crack open, but that is another story..........

Because turbos make the car a lot quieter

Yes I'm new here :tiphat:

Yes I've already heard Turbos quieten the car down, but that cannot be a reason for not going turbo. That's why I'll choose non-resonated X-pipe and non-resonated downpipes

Regarding 3", I was explained 3" is good for Turbo setups that go beyond stock motor capabilities. And that 2.5" and 2.75" are sufiicient, i.e. no bottle neck, for the GTM MHI TT kit.
Apart from that, I ever only found their 2.5" TDX offered on F.I. web page, not any 3" version. But more importantly, I needa keep cats for emissions and FI only offers 3" test pipes as downpipes, yet 2.5" HFC downpipes

Hence, 2.5" ;)

Thanks for your advice :driving:

1. Thank you for the compliment on our exhaust.

2. You are correct, our "J" bend style anti fouler keeps the CEL off.

3. There is a lot of confusion and miss quoted information out there about certain companies using "200 cell" cat cores. Aside of ERZ, I am nearly certain the other 2 are using 300 cell cat cores just like us. The difference is that we no longer use Magnaflow cat cores. We have not since the end of 2008. There were multiple reasons why we switched suppliers but the main factor was the quality. In the 5 years since we switched we have had less issues across the board. Our cats line up to either the stock exhaust or ours perfectly. They were designed to end in stock location.

4. If you are going to TT your car then you can go the route of non resonated x pipe and most likely not have it be too loud. The turbo's will act as primary mufflers and do a very effective job at cutting down the overall sound. The carbon fiber will sound a little louder and slightly higher pitched. More towards that F1 sound you are going for. As for our tips, they are a vital part to our system. Currently they are the only option that we offer.

I think that this covers it all for now. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Thank you, Tony

I ask that you be patient. Your lead time is 6-8 weeks from when you placed your order. We always do our best to build and ship on time and sometimes early.

Thank you, Tony

Our 3" exhaust will be a great fit for your TT application regardless if you have a stock engine or built. The 3" will help relieve all pressure on the back side of the turbo increasing exhaust velocity and allowing the turbo's to spool faster. Sure, 2.5" will work just fine, especially for the over level you plan on being at.

We do have a full 3" setup. I have sold almost 2 dozen, but never got around to putting it up on our website. It will be on the new website which should be launched shortly. For now, here is a link to our 3" exhaust thread:

Thanks, Tony

The "hiss" is prominent on all aftermarket Test Pipes and High Flow Cats for this car. We claim that our HFC's/RHFC's do not have rasp (in conjunction) with our exhaust system!

Thanks, Tony

Hiss comes from the motor, not TPs or HFCs or CBEs. Some exhaust components mitigate it to not being noticed, but in a free exhaust it's there.

Some like it, some don't. Personally, I love it. I think it sounds like a pissed off snake on decel. :stirthepot: I torture boosted cars with it. :icon17:

I have the LTH's and 18" res CBE, and honestly, I barely have any rasp whatsoever that is not associated with having straight pipes. It's not honda rasp, its like Because Racecar rasp. Crisp and raw. :yum:

Bullit79 01-13-2014 08:26 AM

Just installed my 18" resonated SS system. Unfortunately, it started to rain right as I was taking her down off the jackstands :crying: Still, loved the sound during the first start. Can't wait to take her down the interstate to see what it sounds like then.

One thing I have to note is my 2012 Z didn't have the evap canister cover installed  Spent about 10 mins trying to figure out what to remove before I realized it wasn't there. Anyway, wondering if the Z stopped coming with the cover or did the previous owner remove it. My car didn't show signs of mods when I bought her, but maybe I'm wrong. Though the PITA nut on the Y-pipe seems to support the no-mod theory.
