Thanks for the input Huck. Unfortunately, there's really nowhere to take my car, short of another dealership or a Mom & Pops shop. They're incompetent, but they have been honest so far. Sure, it takes them 2 days to install springs, but the install was damage-free. I suppose that's what I get for being on a small island. Their level of uselessness has no bounds, but understandable I suppose.

Hey I understand your dilemma. Hope everything works out!

Seeing that you have a 13' model like me, I really don't think those bolts can get that seized up. I installed my HFC and CBE myself and had no demon bolt, and that was with ordinary hand tools and four jack stands, so a shop with a lift and air tools should be able to tackle this in less than a day. I don't know that's just my opinion. Glad you got yours enjoy...:happydance:

Have you considered attempting these installs on your own? With such an easily accessible database of knowledge (through either this forum or other Z websites), you should have plenty of information to complete the work in a safe, timely manner. My passenger side tip was a little higher than the drivers, so i put washers on 2 of the 3 bolts holding the rear exhaust hanger to the car. Leveled them out perfectly.

You might want to reach out directly to FI for this question. There's more options available than your question takes into account, and they're going to effect the price.

You can play with the configuration and get the price online. Here is for the CBE, look for other pages for the HFC and other stuff:

Just placed my order tonight and wanted to tell Tony thanks again for all your help! Can not wait to get this exhaust on my Z.

Order #820...

Dear October, please hurry!

bchinfoon 07-08-2013 11:28 PM

#821, dealing with Tony was a pleasure

/Angelo350Z/ 07-10-2013 05:41 AM

After a week (yes a week) at the dealership, my F.I. CBE with 18" RTPs are finally on :happydance:. It's really difficult to put into words how intoxicating the sound is. The quality and workmanship put all my previous exhaust systems to shame. I always thought the sound of my 350Z with a Nismo CAI, Nismo CBE, and Berk HFCs, was tough to beat. Now I'm not so sure. The F.1. definitely sounds more aggressive and menacing. The hissing wasn't even noticeable. In fact, I don't recall hearing it at all.

I'm so glad I went with F.I., the wait was totally worth it. Driving my Z with a F.I. exhaust for the first time gave me a giant erection. It was hard :tiphat:.

Not the best vid but ...

Many thanks to Tony and everyone at F.I. for their unrivalled customer support. It was a pleasure doing business with you guys.

I'm #795 and the shipping date is 9/5 at the latest.

I wonder what will come first...my GTM TT or the exhaust? :excited:

Thanks brotha. The wait is totally worth it. Even the shop who sells Nismo parts had nothing but praise for the F.I. exhaust.

^^ Thanks! This exhaust turns the shi**y stock sound into something very aggressive. I absolutely love it.

Mine just shipped out today - #757

kfull 07-13-2013 11:52 AM

Just had my system installed. Everything went in fine and it fits like a glove. Tips line up perfectly. I LOVE the look of the carbon fiber mufflers. I didn't rev it high yet because I'm doing 2 or 3 of the recommended hot and cold cycles. It sounds freaking amazing though. HUGE thanks to Tony, Blake, and the rest of the FI team for making a great exhaust. I'll get some pictures up later.

I'm really debating between the CF or the SS for the FI exhaust. Look forward to seeing your pics. I heard there is a slight difference in sound between the two so I figure I'll check out some YouTube clips.

Verbal21 07-13-2013 02:55 PM

info on these cold/hot cycles? Yes, I'm a total noob:ugh2:

These pictures are crappy iphone pics, and it's a cloudy day so the lighting is poor too. I really like the look of the carbon fiber cans on gun metallic. When its darker they look almost black and I think they match the black accents on the car around the windows, and if you have window tint, the tint too. You can't go wrong either way but I think carbon fiber looks best on black, gun metallic, and 40th aniv Z's, maybe pearl white too, (the non colored Zs) and the colored cars look good with the ss cans. -totally personal opinion, but all that matters is that you like it. carbon fiber has a slightly higher "exotic tone"(not ricey at all) and ss has a slightly lower bassy throatier tone. Carbon fiber is "stealthier" looking while ss is more noticable.

It's just warming up the car to operating temperature, then letting it cool down completely. On the instructions it's recommended to do this at least 2 times to "prolong the life of the internals within the mufflers and tips"

Just finished installing mine. I have to say tony and the guys really do it right. Even the quality of the packaging was incredible. The fitment and sound is beyond my expectations. I wanna sleep in my car tonight. I probly would if I could run the a/c all night.

Huck 07-14-2013 08:21 AM

Angelo congrats on finally getting it installed!

This is probably a nooby question but, I am reading about using washers in case the tips aren't perfectly aligned - does the package come with these? If not what are they officially called/sized and where can I get them?

Sent from my Nexus 7

Chuck33079 07-14-2013 08:53 AM

I'd assume most people go to Home Depot and grab a handful from the hardware aisle. Bring one of the bolts with you. I doubt you'll spend more than $3.

Oh ok, gotcha. So this is only done one time right after installation?

If you even need to. I didn't have any problem with mine, and some times it's caused because people not perfectly aligning the mid pipes. There's a good chance you won't need to use washers.

Yea just do it a couple times after its installed. It's basically like "breaking it in". I just drove strait home from the shop I had it installed at and just kept the rpms low, let the car cool down completely, then did 2 of the hot/cool down cycles in the driveway by lettin the car idle. I've been easy on it while driving the last 4 days, but ima get on it when I'm on my way home from work today:driving:
