I'm using bluetooth on a Pioneer deck with a mic mounted above my rear view mirror. 90% of my calls are fine though, and I can have the music playing and the sound of the exhaust and still have a normal conversation no problem. If I step on it though... :icon17: Honestly I think you'll be fine, and if not you can always have resonators put in no problem.

Be prepared. It's loud af! I have non res cf and hfc with gtmat butyl in the hatch area. Between 2-3k is the most drone. My gf is starting to hate my car because of it. I love how loud and raw it is though.

snowsurfdirtx 06-25-2013 07:17 PM

lol! well, i figure.. i'm single, no kids. might as well have my fun before i wifey some girl and i'm forced by magical vagina powers to tone my radio / exhausts down(i like my stereo's loud as well)

i've just been in some cars (namely, a roommate's old honda) that droned so bad on the freeway it would give you headaches and you had to yell to talk to the other person. i know it's a different beast but i hated that car, and the drone lol

Is it a stock nav? My buddy has the stock nav and nobody can hear him on the phone, it's a pain for him. If the neighbors don't get a boner over the sound of your exhaust, then obviously they need to :gtfo2: anyway, so screw 'em.

[shamelessplug]
Not to go off topic, but GTmat is legit. They make a great product for a great price. Talk to Pintsize here on the forum, usually found in the "what did you do with your Z today" in the off topic section. She handles the sales for that stuff and she can hook you up.

I'm about to upload another vid of my exhaust from Zdayz, I'll put it up here when it's done.

Huck 06-26-2013 06:42 PM

alright, here's a few different versions of the same thing...

Mine's at 15:40
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jV8sUfstVE

This one I'm at 24:15
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3wNX9C8GU8

This one's sound isn't as good, but I'm at 7:04
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6o9BsHWFLA

Huck 06-26-2013 07:06 PM

...and here's the one a friend took of mine when we were at the bottom of the Fontana Village Dam. I loved the way the exhaust echoed off of the mountains:yum::excited:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tvxgaEnw2o

snowsurfdirtx 06-26-2013 08:54 PM

Yeah, stock nav. I can hardly hear the people talking in the first place though over road noise, lol hence wanting gtmat or something. Plus, I see it as a bonus to living next to me: free eargasms when I go to work every day.

I'll message her and see whats up. I just need to kill some of the sound from the rocks and crap on the freeway. plus, I'm sure it'll help out when I throw my sub in the back too

oh and of course, videos.. while i'm at work at youtubes blocked :(

Huck 06-26-2013 09:17 PM

Haha yeah, it will definitely help with the road noise. I'm also willing to bet that you still have the stock tires on there? Those things are loud as hell. Michelin PSS, Hankook Ventus V12's, or Conti DW's are great replacement tires that are much quieter.

Yeah stock tires lol.. My jeep, on foot and a half inch wide mud tires isn't even that loud and its soft top. I'm still surprised at how loud it is sometimes. I'll probably do either the PSS or RE11s, I'll look into the Conti's though, never heard of them. Hankook lost my respect after one weekend with their slicks at laguna seca

Huck 06-27-2013 06:11 AM

I have the PSS's and I love them. My hankooks lasted 5 months and 5700 miles with no grip at all, never again. The continentals are a pretty decent tire.

Crap! Back on topic, FI rules the roost!

I mean, you need good tires to handle the new power you get, right? Lol thanks for the videos! Helped me a lot. There's not too many non-res out there. I'm putting my deposit in for a non-res carbon version today. I REALLY wish I didn't have to wait, but I think I'll be pretty stoked when I install it and do a test drive

Huck 06-27-2013 09:03 AM

It's night and day man. I took mine for a test drive when I installed the CBE, and I got a thumbs up and a broken neck in less than 5 minutes of being on the road lol.

Carbon cans, non-resonated. I watched all the video's I could and talked to everyone I could.. looked like the sound I'm going for was best with non-res. I can always add resonators later. Tony recommended resonated, and I trust / value his opinion but after more research, I decided the drone would be worth it. I used to crew on a Porsche race team, I like loud raspy and mean sounding cars. :stirthepot:

I'll post videos and a review when it arrives!

megalapagas 06-30-2013 06:27 AM

Sick man!! I'm currently awaiting mine I'm #774 and I also went CF non-res'd with Non-Res'd T.P....man I can't wait this month is gonna feel F..O..R..E..V..E..R....:ughdance:

Nice! how long ago did you order? My order got in on Friday, hopefully I get a build number this week. I just gotta try and focus on other projects and forget about it, lol lots of little mods to do till then.

I wonder how the non-res tp's will differ from my art pipes.. I've seen videos of your setup and it sounds sick.. for a video at least. What other mods do you have? I also have Z1 post maf tubes and k&n's

/Angelo350Z/ 07-01-2013 05:38 AM

Getting mine installed on Wednesday. I'll take some before and after vids. I can't wait.

wtolbert 07-01-2013 11:40 AM

Just got my call from the man himself - Tony. Getting mine shipped out on Wednesday a day before my actual shipping Window! Big Ups to Tony, Blake, and Fast Intentions. Outstanding customer service.

Simi Valley Firework Accident

I have to confess, the first thing that popped into my head when I heard this news this morning

28 people injured at Simi Valley fireworks show [VIDEO] » Ventura County Star

was........"I hope this doesn't impact the delivery date for my CBE"

/Angelo350Z/ 07-05-2013 10:20 PM

I received my exhaust on 1 July, took it to the dealership on the 3rd, and it's STILL not ready!!! This is the most incompetent shop I've ever worked with. In fairness to them, they don't install a lot of these aftermarket items. But an exhaust, especially F.I., is pretty straight forward. Oh well, it's going to be ready in a few hours. Oh, and they want to charge me between 4 and 5 hours of labor.

:gtfo2:

They did say the exhaust puts the Nismo to shame :tiphat:.

Holy crap dude, it took me 1.5 hours to put my exhaust on. And that was me taking my time. I wouldn't pay more than 2 hours and that's being generous...

roplusbee 07-05-2013 11:25 PM

Demon Bolt added a couple hours to the labor cost?

Huck 07-05-2013 11:29 PM

Didn't he get only the CBE? They shouldn't even touch the demon bolt unless he got test pipes too...

Thanks, that's what I though. Man, I wish I had more shops to choose from. The same thing happened when they installed my springs; they had the car for over a day.

I also got the 18" RTPs.

Just talked to the Service Manager and he said the car is almost ready. At this point, I don't care about the delay anymore. I just want it installed properly.

/Angelo350Z/ 07-06-2013 03:16 AM

So I went to the dealership to pick up my car. The exhaust looks stunning and the exhaust note is music to my ears. Upon closer inspection of the tips, I noticed that the right tip is less than the thickness of a credit card away from the bumper and the left not centered . To make a long story short, I won't get my car back until Monday. A 2 hour job is taking these guys almost 5 days. With the way things are going, I may never see my Z again.

EDIT: I don't recall the details, but I heard a "hiss" that I've never heard before, even in the FI exhaust clips. I think I only heard it whenever the RPMs dropped, after letting off the accelerator. It sounds like a leak, but I'm sure it's not. Maybe it's the VQ? I don't remember that from my 350Z though. It doesn't sound like the amplified sound of an aftermarket intake system either, because I don't have one. Must search this giant thread all over again.

megalapagas 07-06-2013 06:16 AM

I read up on that too^^ but I don't think soo I think its natural for the exhaust to hiss on decelaration (well on F.I exhaust that is)....would be great for ppl with this exhaust installed to chime in or F.I personell because I've been having that in mind aswell? :)

G37Sam 07-06-2013 06:31 AM

It's the signature catless-VQ hiss. Welcome to the club! :D

scottIN 07-06-2013 06:34 AM

Mine hisses like crazy during decel when there is engine braking. So it's especially prevalent on hills. Some people say it's only for a few seconds, but mine will do it for 15-20 seconds on a hill by my house because I usually coast down it.I've never been able to find a leak anywhere (no black streaks or anything at any of the joints, and I would assume that if it was a leak you'd also hear it under load.

I've asked a few times and never really heard a straight answer as to WHAT is happening, just that it's because of the HFCs. I love the sound of the FI, but the hiss can be annoying, especially if you're in traffic and it does it every time you slow down. I've had a couple people ask me if I had a turbo because it sounds like a pop-off valve.

/Angelo350Z/ 07-06-2013 07:17 AM

Glad to hear the hiss isn't out of the norm. Initially I thought it was a heat shield, or worse, the sway bar coming in contact with the vibrating exhaust components. It goes away so I'm positive it's just the sound of a cat-less VQ just like G37Sam mentioned.

I apologize I advance for the multiple posts I'm about to do, not trying to postwhore but I'm on my phone and I don't have the multi-quote feature available.

Angelo, if you got the Test Pipes then they had to deal with the Demon Bolt, so honestly it IS reasonable that it took a bit longer for them to install, that thing is a pain in the ąss. It still sounds like they're pretty incompetent though. Just trying to give a shred of credit where it's due lol.

At this point you sound a lot calmer than I would. I would probably demand my car back and go somewhere else to get it taken care of, and cancel the charge on your credit card to that shop. The info you're giving us is pretty unreasonable.

As to this hiss that you hear, it's totally normal. I had a little bit of it even when I had just my CBE. Now that I have headers it's extremely pronounced. I thought for a while that some of the MIG wire had gotten stuck inside the pipes somewhere and was rattling around, but after hearing a few other exhausts I've realized that it's just the VQ hiss everyone talks about.

Now I kinda like it, I've had people come up and ask me what turbos I was running lol.
