Is fast intentions exhaust carb legal!?

plumber dude 11-08-2012 01:27 PM

I'm # 655 ! I just ordered from Tony the CBE with 18" resonators, and resonated Test pipes. He said I am 12-14 weeks out for delivery.

Its worth it, so I'm told :icon17: I ordered mine back the begining of August and I should get it at the very end of this month... Cant wait!!

plumber dude 11-08-2012 01:34 PM

I agree. The wait will be hard but the payoff well worth it.:icon18:

norm 11-08-2012 03:55 PM

i ordered my system August 3rd, #600 - Resonated HFC's - 18" resonators - SS cans. Can not wait for the install!

ubs234 11-08-2012 05:43 PM

What sounds louder? 12 inch resonator or 18 inch resonator?

Huan'z 11-08-2012 05:48 PM

12" res. if u want like a monster then 12" non res.

From what i understand, the resonator just reduces drone inside the cabin.

ubs234 11-08-2012 06:06 PM

Hmm i see. Well my main issue is with the carb legal or not

bdub561 11-08-2012 07:45 PM

I think it is... But the best way to find out is to call Tony directly.

Carb legal? If you're talking about the cats, the FI is a cat back so you keep your stock catalytic converters. It's 50 state legal.

FLYZ 11-09-2012 03:03 PM

What are the opinions on their resonated HFC? I don't think I have heard of anyone who has them. I want an exhaust that sounds great, but keeps the sound as tight as possible - no rasp, wheeze or hiss. I think the best way to do this and maintain CARB legality (which is important to me) is to get the resonated HFC, which I only know of FI to make, and I figure it might be most compatible with their CBE, which I plan to order at the same time.

Or would I be better off with the Berk HFC. It seems overwhelmingly like that is a popular combination, but I have never heard why in comparison to using FI's own resonated HFC or even the regular, non-resonated HFC. Do you think Tony will cut me a deal if I order the CBE and Res. HFC together?

dmhenderson 11-09-2012 03:21 PM

iirc you get a slight break in price if you order multiple components but I could be wrong

dmhenderson 11-09-2012 03:23 PM

I'm about a week from shipping. Currently have 18" stainless resonated CBE plus non-resonated cats.

Should I switch to 12" resonators?

I originally ordered the 18" res SS with res HFc's. I changed my order to 12" res SS cans and still retained the res hfc's. This combo will limit any rasp (if any) and retain a deep low growl.

jpritche 11-09-2012 08:02 PM

25k miles on mine. Still sounds and looks the same as it did the first day!

Why? NR is the way to go.

NR is only plausable if you've got FI. Otherwise you're gonna say goodnight to your hearing.

Going to call Tony tomorrow to discuss.

InsanO 11-11-2012 10:33 PM

Currently got the 18" CF on order, thinking about switching to 12" CF (keeping stock cats either way).

Anyone heard both and can comment on the differences inside and outside?

If youre keeping stock cats, 12" ss or cf would be money;)

Cheers. Plan was to keep stock cats (for now) with possibility (albeit a small one) of upgrading them later.

Decisions, decisions...

dmhenderson 11-13-2012 08:32 AM

Spoke with Tony yesterday and he said there's no real difference in noise *outside* the car between the 12" and 18" resonators if you go with unresonated HFCs but that the sound *inside* the car would be considerably louder.

I'm going to go ahead and leave it with unresonated HFCs and the resonated 18" cans. My ship date is next Wed/Thurs!

correct, the resonators effect the noise inside the cabin.

I just got off the phone with Tony, spoke to him about possibly switching from 18" CF to 12" CF to add a bit more outside noise whilst minimising inside drone.

Won't go into too much detail unless someone's interested (PM me) but I'm sticking with the 18" CF system and will look at resonated HFCs later down the track if its not loud enough for my liking.

Highly recommend giving him a call if you've got any queries... His expertise and advice is excellent and I can now head to bed with my mind at ease  :)

3zworld 11-13-2012 05:04 PM

I previously posted a vid of mine with CF cans on the CBE and HFC's 18" resonated throughout

asdfsammich 11-13-2012 08:10 PM

Did you get cbe first, then add hfc's, or did you install both at the same time?

Don't think that's accurate. I'm #602. I spoke to Tony 2 days ago and was told my exhaust/cats are shipping next Wed. Thurs/Fri are holidays too.

norm 11-15-2012 01:41 PM

I'm 600, haven't been notified yet.

Thats what Tony told me on the phone today when I called in the payment in full.. Weird. I think they generally make one set per day from what I understand...

594 here. Got it installed last Friday at FI close to where I work. I am quite pleased with my combination. I have Resonated HFC and the Non resonated TDX with carbon fiber cans. It is loud and took some getting used to. Low gears at 2.5k to < 3k rpm has this crazy low notes in the cabin. In cabin resonant frequency at this rpm range is probably between 90 to 120 hz at about 70 to 75 db I'm guessing. Sounds awesome this exhaust. My wife and kids could tell Im coming home. i can hear the car scream on the freeway. Add SRM to the mix and it's heaven! Car has better torque and pull. I love my 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gears so much! The Takeda CAI and the FI exhaust combo really brings it together. Sorry no video (yet) but have pix to show later.

I like the discreet look of the cf cans. I see a cf diffuser to match it. The car attracts so much attention as it is and do not want to add a shiny pc of metal on my behind screaming look at my pipes please and listen closely too!

For those on the fence, time to get on the bus. Nuff Zed.

LakeShow 11-15-2012 11:49 PM

Quick question, what's a good product to clean the exhaust? Eagle One Never Dull?
