Your welcome. Looks and sounds great! The pictures are hilarious.

Let us know when you're ready for the LTH's. Enjoy!

The car is on the lift right now. Bolts are soaking in PB Blaster. I'll be installing the front sway bar while the bolts soak up the penetrating oil. :excited:

FYI: Harvest is just outside of Huntsville

happy wife, happy life,,,,,,she did buy it didnt she?:rofl2:

TBatt 12-28-2015 01:49 PM

No, she doesn't buy car things and I don't buy jewelry. Sounds fair to me! So far this arrangement has worked well for the 35 years we have been married.

When I told her I was planning on installing a supercharger on my Z she just shook her head and walked away mumbling something about me and my "toys".......

The SC is planned for late spring.

Super easy install

It's installed! WOW, WOW, WOW! The first cold start could be felt in your chest! WOW, what a sound. On a cold start it sounds like the engine grew about 2 liters. It has a new deep rumble that sounds just incredible! Once the engine warms up it mellows out but it still has a much deeper tone, not loud but deep.

So we checked for leaks (none) and let the engine warm up while we lowered the car from the lift. Cleared out the lift and backed it out of the garage to let it burn off the oils that are on the inside of the pipes. It does smoke quite a bit at first. After the car had warmed up I shut it off to let it cool (what the instructions said to do) while we picked up tools and got cleaned up before the test drive.

Fired up the engine and just sat there for a short while grinning from ear to ear. My buddy who drives a GTI was green with envy! So, we took off to a local pizza joint so I could buy him lunch for helping me. Not a lot of help is needed but it is very helpful to have someone help hold things in place while your wrestling with bolts and nuts and pipes. BTW: The install was super easy. The only fiddly thing I had to do was put one washer shim adjustment on the passenger rear exhaust hanger to get the two tail pipes balanced on the spacing. I'm talking about 1/16 of an inch, yes I'm anal.

Off to the pizza place and the car has been totally transformed. Between the sweet sounding exhaust and the new Hotchkis sway bars it feels and sounds like a new car. What you will notice most is the way the exhaust changes tone with RPM and load. Under 2500RPM and light throttle it has a very deep almost rumble to it. The guys with V8s will be impressed with the 3.7L V6 sound. Once the throttle is increased the rumble also increases up until you get to 2500RPM and then the sound changes again to more of a sweet straight line six sound (Austin Healey-ish). When you get up to 4000RPM the sound changes once again to a very exotic car sound (think Ferrari-ish). This sounds stays all the way to red line and believe you me, you WILL be visiting the red line often,,,,,,,,,,OMG! Like a drug, addicting!

So we get to the pizza place and have lunch. Once done with that I ask my bud if he would like to go and checkout the new gun store. Well, HE77 Yeah! So we head to the gun store which gets us on the interstate highway. Taking the entrance ramp at near the century mark and being very impressed with the new sway bars and loving the new sound we're off to the store. Slowing down to the speed limit of 70 and engaging the cruise control we were very impressed at how quiet the 18" resonator exhaust system is. Actually it sounds almost stock except deeper, very nice!

We get to the gun store and are impressed at all of the stuff they have. Enough of that, time to ride. We took off in a cloud of tire smoke (VDC off) and got back on the highway. The exit ramp is rated at 45 so 90+ seemed appropriate. After coming out of the turn my buddy says we could have taken that much faster.....I just grinned. He is used to a GTI, not a bad car, just not a Z.

We get back to my house and he hops in his GTI and it sounds like a weed whacker compared to my Z. :roflpuke2:

I'm thinking that it is 52 degrees, partly clouding and a great time to go and scare the ricers. So for the next two hours that is what I did! :eekdance:

After coming home and pouring myself a Gentlemen Jack on the rocks I sat down to write this report (reps welcome).

For those of you yet to order your exhaust, just do it! You are just wasting the wait time which is long but can be survived (barely). For those of you on the wait list, your time is coming and you will NOT be disappointed! The system looks fantastic and sounds even better. My calibrated butt dyno can feel the difference especially once the RPMs get above 6000. The install is brain dead easy. The system was expertly packaged and arrived early, a single day early but man did that feel good!

Thanks Tony and Kevin and the whole crew!! You guys are awesome! Best Christmas present ever! :happydance:

As promised, I'll be working on a video/audio feast for your eyes and ears very soon, maybe tomorrow if the weather will let me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone and ROLL TIDE!!!!!

Happy New Year!

Fast Intentions exhaust is here! (continued)

Each and every one of these reviews fills me with lots of excitement. Too bad I'm still at least 2-3 weeks away from getting my CBE fabricated sitting at #1312

I Can't wait to have to have my system installed at the Fast Intentions shop.

Here are a couple of pictures of the audio and video setup. I just got back from about an hour of driving while videoing the drive. Unfortunately the mountain roads were still damp from last night's rain so I had to back it down quite a bit. Also I have managed to warp the front brake rotors, again. I guess the next upgrade will be putting the sport Akebono system on. I have the base brakes and they are not up to my style of driving.

For the in car camera, I decided to go with my Drift Stealth 2 camera because it is very lightweight and should stay in place during the high speed turns.:driving:

The microphones were placed under the headrest in a binaural configuration. The audio will sound best with headphones as you will hear almost exactly what I experienced. :excited:

The cold start video was shot from both behind the car at ear level and from inside the car.

Enough of the technical stuff. I need to start editing the video.

TBatt 12-30-2015 08:52 PM

You guys that are on the long waiting list are gonna' hate me.......

Here is my video. For the best sound use headphones. Enjoy the ride!

The video is around 14 minutes long. I did this to try and show how the exhaust sounds in a wide variety of conditions from slow cruising to wide a** open balls to the wall. If you listen carefully you can hear the tires squealing in some of the turns. Dang, that was fun. I normally don't drive like this but Tony and Kevin made me do it! That's my excuse...officer.

A good portion of the video was shot on Bankhead Parkway on Monte Sano Mountain inside of the Huntsville city limits. Back in high school, we would run up the mountain slowly at around 2am looking for cops. If none were found we would haul A** back down playing follow the leader. Yes, we were stupid! By the time we reached the bottom we had no brakes. None! You could press as hard as you could on the brake pedal and nothing. You could see them glow! We would then all head in different directions, just in case, and end up at the local Krispy Creme for hot off the rack donuts. Boy, those were the days! And we all survived!

Yeah, I'm on my third mid-life crisis. I think I'll add the Stillen SC to my fourth.......;)

I have fallen in love with my Z all over again! :worship:

How vital is a tune with all three mods?

I live in Iowa, and there are pretty much no 370Z-experienced tuners nearby. I've considered doing the ECUTek eTune option (and may consider doing it at some point), but I'd much rather have a tune done in person.

I've also been thinking of switching from 18" resonators to the Non-Res set-up on the catback. Would there be any rasp with that set-up (I already have resonated Test Pipes)?

Mysilverz 01-04-2016 11:15 PM

Yeah I'm trying 18 resonated with non resonated test pipes to see if that makes it a little more aggressive. It's just so buttery smooth with the 18 inch resonators.

Lmao, turn yourself around in a circle 10 times and then take 3 deep cleansing breaths to clear your head. You will have your prize possession in do time. And by the way, even though each exhaust system is hand made one at a time, they complete the exhaust system in batches so they mail out multiple exhaust system at one time. You may be closer than you think.:p

Don't worry guys, the wait is what makes them special! You will be rewarded for your patience many times over. The reward comes ever time you push the Start button!!!!!

I've already had one 370Z owner chase me down to find out what exhaust I have. Good thing I didn't think that he wanted to race, not that I would ever do that ........

Not yet. If I do, it won't be until closer to Spring (my Z is chillin' in the garage through the winter here). The only thing that I'm worried about is my neighbors. I usually leave for work around 6:30 am, so I don't want to be that guy who wakes everybody up.

Did you go with a similar set-up?

At this point last year, my exhaust set-up was sitting in my basement, just waiting to be installed!

I'm having mine installed at the F.I shop but my number hasn't come up yet. Once I know when my CBE would be finished I will set up an appointment with them.

-{H}- 01-10-2016 01:49 AM

Hi Guys - Sorry if this question has been asked before, but there are 342 pages now :)
I have a stock 2015, and i really like the sound of the FI setup. Im planning on buying the 18' resonated setup and keeping the car stock. I am just worried about the drone noise. Its my dd car and i usually drive at 70mph so thats about 2400rpm
How bad is it? i couldnt find on youtube any stock car with FI catbacks only, mainly all the videos are with HFC or test pipes.
Can anyone share their input or any videos?

Thanks!

cooltoy 01-10-2016 10:45 AM
