FI HFC vs. Stock

I tried to search this thread with no luck but I figured someone might know. I installed my FI exhaust a little over a year ago and I did FI high flow cats are the same time. Lately my wife has been driving the car a little more and asked if there was a way to easily take the exhaust volume down just a little.

If any of you have run an FI exhaust with and without the FI HFC's, does it make much difference in sound? The HFC's are a bit of a pain to install/uninstall so if the difference is negligible I probably won't bother trying the swap.

What type of reaonators do you have on your CBE? 18" RESONATORS will help.

I already have the 18" ones. It sounds great, just not necessarily conducive to my wife's audio books with a rag top. :)

Stssjester 12-31-2014 01:55 PM

When I took the stock cats off and put the HFCs on, I didnt notice a difference in amplitude. I have non resonated CBE. If you still have the old CBE that might be an option. Probably not for you though!

Ahhh, ask the wife to drive her other car. Just a suggestion.

Getting my F.I. CBE and HFC (plus a Stillen G3 CAI and an UpRev tune) installed a week from tomorrow. My first time ever having modifications done to any car, so I'm super excited (and maybe a little nervous). 2015 is looking to be a good year!

Stssjester 12-31-2014 03:16 PM

Let me know how much of a gain you get. I am running the same setup!

There's nothing to be nervous about Kris. You're going to love it!

Happy New Years to everyone. We appreciate all your support.

I am saving up. Wanted a FI exhaust for months-almost years now. Unsure how to even start. Need guidance please. :)

cooltoy 01-01-2015 08:36 PM

Call FI, you will get all the guidance you need.

zmanelite 01-01-2015 10:04 PM

Would you guys make a Cat back or Axle back for a 2014 IS250F Lexus ?

I'm more than happy to answer any questions that you might have.

Is you car a daily driver or weekend car? Do you currently have anything done to your car? What are your over-all goals?

Do not hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an email/PM.

I noticed that your location says Anaheim. If you'd like we can schedule an appointment to look over your vehicle and give you a few different custom exhaust options.

:rofl2: However, if she's the breadwinner, then you might have to give in. Sounds like the OP is willing to do so. Must be a kept man....:tiphat:

Very cool! What setup did you go with? Non-res? 12? 18?

wfsims 01-05-2015 09:39 PM

18 res, CBE
Welds were done with care and fit was near perfect, apparent that the folks at fast intentions have pride in their product.
Let me know how the up rev tune works out, would be interested in what you get and cost.

KrisL 01-07-2015 04:17 PM

Taking my car to the shop after work today to get my new exhaust and HFC installed (plus intake & tune). Should be able to pick it up tomorrow after work. Been waiting for this since I placed my order in September. It's finally time to join the F.I. family.
:excited: :driving: :woot:

Stssjester 01-07-2015 05:00 PM

Excited to hear your results!

Just want a set up that is slightly louder than stock. I don't live super loud exhausts. What combination do you suggest Tony?

JF450 01-07-2015 06:40 PM

I had some questions also. Emailed about a month and half ago never got a reply and PMed here on monday no reply either. Please don't make me buy a Motordyne shockwave...

Stssjester 01-07-2015 06:49 PM

Call them. Request to talk to Tony.

Probably will, but right now i'm working really long evening/night shifts and with them being west coast it makes it a bit difficult.

I would recommend our 370Z TDX Cat Back Exhaust System with Polished Stainless Steel Mufflers and 18" Resonators. This combination will produce a deep, smooth, and exotic exhaust note. Although this is our quietest option it will still be a noticeable difference over the OEM exhaust.

If you have any other questions or would like to order, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

I am replying to your PM now. My apologies, kindly resend your email as I have answered everything that I have seen come through to our email inbox.

The holiday season has been a busy time for us (please don't take that as an excuse). Always feel free to contact me directly by phone if needed.

Thank you,

- Kevin

That was fast lol. I think I had sent from your website so I don't really have an email to send again. It was just to get a shipping quote. I'll PM you my info.

Tony

Got the exhaust mated to my turbo kit and retuned. If you PM me an email address I'll send a couple dyno pull videos and pictures of the rear end. I don't have any under the car shots at the moment but will in the next couple weeks.

Sounds awesome!

Does anyone have direct experience hearing a 18" res + test pipes setup vs the 18" + LTH setup? I know this is even more of a longshot but has anyone had experience driving both setups to compare? I'm trying to decide what to add to the 18" setup i've got now
