Jon,

It was good speaking with you yesterday and I hope you received my email.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. :tiphat:

Kevin,

I called a few weeks ago regarding ordering a 12" ss catback with some possible test pipe hardware added.
Any update on the hardware if its now available?

Thanks

4TthAnnyZ 01-13-2015 07:03 PM

Do you guys send new gaskets with test pipe purchases?

We do. We have custom 3 bolt HR gaskets made for the top and 2 bolt gaskets made for the bottom. Currently our HR gaskets are on back order from our supplier.

Thanks.

I've had my 18" res exhaust + HFC on my car for almost a week and a half now. I absolutely love the sound.

A nice deep smooth bass sound when running at low RPM. High gear on the freeway and you can almost get it to go silent with just your throttle control (no drone!). Give it some gas and it has a nice throaty growl to it. Really open her up and this thing just roars! :excited: :driving:

Is the drone that bad on Non-Res CF Exhaust paired with (Stock Cats)? Or can the drone be taken care of with Dynamat in Trunk? Since I don't wanna get the 12" and then it would be too quiet for me. I'm not too concerned with drone seeing as how my G35 Sedan with Midpipe/Ypipe droned on highway/cruising

Stssjester 02-03-2015 12:08 PM

I have that setup and its minimal drone.

Joker_J 02-03-2015 12:11 PM

im new to the modding thing but what does it mean when you say its minimal drone?

Everyone will have a different opinion on drone, but it is pretty mild on the stock cats IMO. If you plan on going with HFCs or TPs in the future and do a lot of highway driving the 12" resonators may not be a bad idea

:iagree: its all personal opinion and taste.

best part about FI is you can mix and match many options to find your perfect sound level/tone

you got people like me who drives his daily (except winter) with full straight pipes lol

here's a non-res TP and non-res CBE set-up at full throttle 1st-4th with the windows up.

there's multiple vids on my channel of the non-res setup along with some straight pipe ones. all are Fast Intentions

All depends on your hearing as well. I spent 10 years in the Marines working on F-18s and work on planes now. Its pretty funny at our shop everyone yells or talks loud..all of us are half deaf.

Stssjester 02-03-2015 01:10 PM

Yea, I'm not going to change out the HFCs/TPS (NC has Inspections, so no TPs).

I'm just looking for Better Sound and NO rasp. And i've found (on videos that is) the Non Res has the least "hiss" and least rasp.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think my mind is set on FI CF Non-Res. :D..now just gotta get the time to order so I can get it my May-June. :happydance::happydance:

the hiss comes from removing the cats. doesn't really come from which resonators in the CBE you choose. the resonators primarily address the drone levels.

Ah. Okay. I assumed it would happen regardless of Stock/Aftermarket HFC/TP. Nice to know though. Awesome color by the way. I could not find a Monterrey Blue in the 18 months I was searching for a Z (Very specific in what I wanted) lol

yea I didn't know at first either it's all info that was learned.

the hiss is actually pretty cool except people will always think you're boosted.

thank you sir. yea the color was hard to find for me too. lots of searching and I ended up buying it in Louisiana and drove it straight home 1300~ miles back to Pittsburgh.

Neurosis 02-06-2015 11:34 PM

I've had my order in for a couple weeks now and I keep going back and forth in my mind between the 12" resonated vs. non-resonated exhaust.

This is no longer my daily driver car, but I do intend to daily drive it in the summer, because why not?

With that said, I want the exhaust to be definitely louder than stock so that it's obvious to others around me, but I don't want it to be painful/uncomfortable for the average daily commute of 8-9 miles each way to work, with a brief stint on the highway.

People throw the exotic word around a lot and I'd really like that to be the overall sound.

At the end of the day, if I got the non-resonated version and it was a little louder than I expected, I wouldn't be all that upset. I think I would be upset if I got the 12" resonated version and it wasn't quite loud enough.

For reference, I've got no plans to ever change from the stock cats - this is mostly a change for appearance/sound, as opposed to true performance.

I feel like this is a decision I've been trying to make for quite a long time now - can anybody help a guy out?

Agent K 02-06-2015 11:53 PM

Well, I can tell you that PPE headers and FI TDX non-resonated was not pleasant for me. The drone was just too much and the Z is not my DD. Not sure if the drone is there with stock cats.

Neurosis,

If you even think for a second that you would be disappointed with the 12" resonated, think no more. Go non-res. I was in exactly the same place as you and literally one week before my exhaust was to be built I went non-res and carbon fiber, with stock cats. Absolute best decision I made for the exhaust. Here is a video I made about a week after I had the exhaust. Listen with headphones or stereo for best quality.

I will have had the exhaust for a year in about 4 days and it is my daily driver in a city with a lot of cops; of course I don't romp on it when they are around though :tiphat:. It still doesn't get old, I drive with the windows down every day!!! Better than any music I could play. :driving:

Good luck with whichever you choose.

Hey RoyaltyB, I actually have my order in for a FI SS with 12" Res right now, and I've also been debating about whether I should've placed an order for the non-res instead. I've just been worried that it would be too unbearable inside lol I don't know. But I'm also worried if I get the 12 Res that I wont be able to hear it enough. Right now I can't hear the stock at all which is partly why I wanna get the new exhaust. I want to be able to hear it just don't want it to be unbearable. So unsure!!!! However, I thought once the order was placed I can't downgrade, wouldn't that be considered downgrading?

You'll be fine with what you got if you are worried about interior volume.

This sounds beautiful! I decided to go with 18" resonators, because I'm pairing it with a set of resonated Test Pipes. Everything's been sitting in my basement for a couple months now because of winter. Hopefully it's loud enough but without drone!

cooltoy 02-09-2015 08:19 PM

I can hear my 18" just fine. Much louder then stock.
