Review: MotorDyne Shockwave))) E370 Exhaust

Don't worry, this thing will spit when you drive it hard Try Abbey Motorsports for a UK supplier if you want that option.

Mostly because it's expensive, it's a lot to invest in 'just' an exhaust.

If you get something that's louder at idle, it will be even louder elsewhere, you won't get a V8 type noise either, their noise is based upon rough running, the V6 is a smooth motor.

However, as civilized as the Motordyne is, the idle noise is 'different' and pleasant.

Thanks for the reply. And it sounds so obvious when you say it. But if it is louder at idle then it would be louder throughout the rest of the rpm range.

I know jack about cars but I'm learning I suppose.

Whilst true, more specifically i was referring to the ability for it to be a nice cruiser, not to be making noise just driving down the road at a set speed, like a certain other popular Jap car manufacturer which is popular with young drivers.

Default exhaust arrived

Woohoo! Got my Motordyne Shockwave))) E370Z delivered now
I ordered it through Mark @ Abbeymotorsports here in the U.K.
£1879.50, incl. shipment.
Excellent service. Very very pleased, Mark

Below are some photos of the exhaust. I took the time to measure all dimensions and weigh it accurately: 26.36 kg in total.
I'm waiting for a pair of car ramps to arrive, then I'll install the exhaust at home. Can't wait

Congrats V1H! You're going to love the way it sounds and the heads that it turns.

Car ramps arrived this morning.
And I just finished installing my Motodyne Shockwave)))

Holy m*****f****** ****! The sound is simply otherworldly
My Z now sounds like it's on steroids. I expected a lot but this exhaust sound just blows my socks

The install was a breeze on the ramps. Though, working towards the cats I had to jack the car slightly on either front. The exhaust piping lines up perfectly. Only thing, you gotta figure out which way round the Y-pipe goes, coz it got a slight kink at its collector flange and it wouldn't say what's "up" or "down". As for the muffler, I simply assumed the Motordyne Logo is "down", which fortunately turned out to be right. The install leaflet should have mentioned these.
Got a bit wet towards the end of the install. See below phots.

Car ramps.. ready to get going

OEM exhaust off. Looks like cheap garbage and is only 1yr old

Motordyne Shockwave on.. Wet and Sexy!

The Ti tips I'll install tomorrow

Mint looking ride m8

I sold my Prelude recently to make space for my Z.
You can still see the auction here, which includes a set of pictures of my Prelude.
I have a homepage about my Lude, too, where I kept track of all modifications I made. I have done everything myself, whether ECU hacking, Cam Piston or conrod installations, even bumper paintjob. It was my true DIY project for almost 9 years, starting from bone stock.
When I auctioned the Lude I was spotted by the Lude Generation Forum and invited to give a few write-ups, which you may find in this thread. That's it. I hadn't been active on any Prelude forum ever.

V1H, those are rubber dampers to alleviate vibration and "hiss" from the OEM exhaust. (The pic you posted asking)

Ah interesting. Still not sure how they'd actually work. Coz there's merely a weight suspended on rubber and a weird straight stiff wire poking through a small hole. It looks purposeful but its function is beyond me.
Maybe it acts a kind of counterweight and somehow is engineered to vibrated in sync with the pipe but with a phase delay of Pi, thus cancelling vibration.. a bit like noise cancelling "anti-sound" The wire-through-hole must be limiting the deflection/amplitude of the counterweight vibration, perhaps it makes it more broad-band (less sharp a resonance curve) or keeps the phase delay at Pi
Just speculating here
