yes if your around it alot you will get that. but your not going to get it from gutting a cat unless you bend over and actually try to inhale the stuff :P

and danggit noone has still answered if the CEL actually reduces performance or if it just a warning about the ecu detecting the change.

no a CEL does not mess with performance it just notifies you of a problem
