Default Are we scary cats?

OK,

I just finished my audio setup......PPI 1000 watts amps, Dynaudio mids/woofs, Dynaudio MD100 tweets, Kenwood HD headunit. Well now I want more!!!

I am getting frustrated at not having a subwoofer. I am like most of you...I do not want to lose my spare tire. But, come on........

1. M3 Bimmers do not have a spare. The factory issues a 'fix-a-flat' kit.
2. How many times have we actually used a spare tire? Me, well 2 times in 20+years.
3. I have AAA. So, why am still concerned?
4. What is JL waiting for? I need my stealth box.

Sorry guys, I am just sick and tired of staring at my trunk trying to come up with a solution.

Has anyone installed the Dynaudio MD130 (4") tweeters yet?

Oh, Z-enclosures are great, but I still want a stealth setup.

So what is with the title? I doubt anyone has installed them also if you are looking to put them as rears I would not. As fronts you better be ready to do some fiberglassing for them big suckers. Also I do not care how good road side is or how well a run flat tire is or that I do not need a spare. I would rather have mine when needed than not at all. If it is snowing bad out and I am on my way home I do not want to wait for aaa to get there as the roads get covered if I have a flat I want it fixed and gone. Just how I look at it.

Also were do you think JL is going to make there box for? It is probably going to be in the same spot as the z enclosure so it probably will not be that stealth. I would rather go with a z enclosure not just because it fits and works great but also because it had enough breathing room for a sub.

well looks like you want your cake and eat to! you can have both if you give up the idea of a stealth look because the flat tire may occur at the worst time and when it does do you want the feeling that its no big deal but a minor inconvenience or the oh crap i don't even have a spare cause it's in the damn garage, do you know your answer now! that's just my opinion since your asking.

I know. Just like auto insurance, crap happens when you do t have it.

FYI my design, if I ever find the time, will allow me to have my cake/kAte and eat it/Edith too. I am on my way to Home Depot for some parts.

Oh I am hoping JL will utilize the spare tire area.

As for the title, that's what my friend who owns an m3 used to joke around.

I still thing a nice box can be built that fits down flush inside the spare...... two members here have done it. One 8" or one 10", or in the case of the dude in the "stealth subwoofer" thread, to 6 1/2" kickers. Elemental Designs makes a nice 10" thinline, the SQ10...... works well in a small sealed box. I am thinking about doing this along with the DLS UP36 3 way system. The Z is a small car, a good 10 designed to work in a small sealed box would be great in a stealth location like inside the spare........ unless you want ear bleeding levels and subsonic botton to rattle the car loose, LOL.

Your going to have to go custom if you want to go this route anytime soon. I yanked the spare and all the foam crap out of the back and had custom sub enclosure with a JL 13T5 slim sub. If you search a bit on here I have some photos of it on this site. If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to help you out.

FYI: That sub is a Beast!!

just put a sub on the floor. it's not like the Z has much of a compartment anyway... to me the trunk is a rear glove box.

Well I think I have the necessary bass. I built 2 boxes containing each a 6x9 Tang Band subwoofer. I am 5'9" and was able to fit the slimline boxes behind the seats without losing my normal driving legroom position.

I am jazzed!!! CAn't find my camera so I will provide pics soon.
