There are many whiskies to choose from but the prices are much higher than in the USA. Jack is usually about $50 a bottle. But I buy it in a bar and drink it there. When I leave, they put my name on it and I come back whenever and get it and continue.
Sorry, just not a fan of Jack. I know what you mean though, about buying a bottle overseas, they write your name on it, and you get to go back and finish it. However, I had this one issue with this upscale bar in Manila. I bought a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black for 9K Pesos; yes, about $200 . It was almost closing time, and they said my friend and I either had to finish it, or take it home. Either way, I couldn't leave it at the bar. Naturally we finished it. My friend doesn't really drink that much, so I went from sober to ******* in about 45 minutes. There were a LOT of beautiful Pinays, but f**k that place.

i usually partake in a delightful cognac beverage:

Hennessy Privilege
Hennessy VS
Remy Martin VSOP

all are on the rocks or with a splash of Sprite. the one thing i love about cognac is i can get obliterated one night and wake up feeling like a million bucks the next morning.

whiskey and bourbon are another favorite:

Gentlemen's Jack
Woodford Reserve
Crown Royal

i always mix them with Coke. also very but if i drink too much, i feel like someone's kicking me in the balls the next morning.

Default Jack & Coke??

Why would anyone ruin good whiskey with Coke! That like putting ketchup on a ribeye.

Amen! I'd give my James Bond speech but I'm feeling too good to care.

The history of alcohol and the role of cheap prohibition alcohol in providing a strong impetus for mixed drinks and cocktails is interesting. Hence rum and coke and scotch (or whiskey) and whatever.

An interesting turn is that you now see people mixing good alcohol with drinks that hide or overpower its flavor. Chili's has built an empire in part by convincing people to mix good tequila with shitty margarita mix.

Doh!

for me drink of choice these days would be Johnny double black/Green or Jameson. We got a bottle of Johnny Blue for my mates wedding, to me it's not all it's cracked up to be. I am no pro, but Green to me was smoother/nicer straight out of the bottle or on the rocks.

I'm always trying something different and they are still the best so far, will give some of the others in this thread a try

If you guys can find it grab a bottle of suntory hibiki. Everyday 12yr is good very good. Yes it is a japanese whiskey, but it'll give your Johnnys a good run for the money. You can thank me later

Any Four Roses bourbons are outstanding, but I just picked up a bottle at Binny's in Chicago that really stands out. Single Barrel, Barrel Strength Limited Edition; smooth...for 108 proof

I like Coke and I love Whiskey, but someone please shoot me if they catch me mixing the two. Waste of Coke and Whiskey.

+1 for Japanese whiskey. Suntory Yamazaki!

One of the smoothest whiskies I've ever had. Some restaurants in NYC serve it, but it's ridiculously expensive - like around $22-$26 a glass (You can get a bottle from a Virginia ABC for ~$70.)

Another fave is Oban...

I once dated a really hot doctor lady who loved Scotch and this was her fave. I still regret letting that relationship go.

Yamasaki 12 is only ~$50 or so here. It's good stuff.
