not to hate but i agree with de.50 on this, that much torque may not pop your motor but you did just drop down to a tenth or less of it's lifetime. Then again they may only use it once in a great while. I beat the chit out of my rides and fix or replace(in the case of the beaters) when they go. While the first motor suddenly lost all its oil and died, I know it was heavily worn before that happened, then the second motor was scored up for oil starve tracking, I melted the front rotors and pads under succsesive high speed braking, have gone through two manual transmissions from crunching the synchros racing, and burned up one rear end. I did all that NA If i go turbo its going to be around 400-450 whp and that is where it will stay. How much of a demand the driver places on the car has more to do with its life than any single other thing, but 550 torque is a hell of a lot of repetitive stress to ask of the factory rods that are were designed for HALF of that. It will blow after enough runs through that torque curve but it's a moot point, these guys are baller enough to blow 11k on a turbo kit they will just spend the cash when it comes time to rebuild.

It all comes with the territory of any boosted ride. It is part of the deal. This is why I cringe when some want to go forced induction on a "budget"...its a NA car at its core, plan accordingly. I think it should be in everyone's budget who goes this route to begin a built engine plan, slowly yet surely, or just throw the money to the side, nothing lasts forever, and it surely won't last longer doing this.

My plan is simple. mess around for a year at it's power levels, throw it into high boost after the year. Just see how long this engine can survive a 630/550+ beating while my built block is waiting.

So far so good tho, I have treated it like it owes me money and it has been up to task. My goal was to eliminate any and all weak-points I could, without cracking the block open. I will be one of the few where if it pops, it won't be because of poor install, poor tune or poor equipment. Worst case scenario, bad fuel or random circumstance, best case scenario, I exceeded the stock block limit.

I would never expect the block to last 200k, but I do expect it to exceed 20-40k, anything past that is just icing on the cake.

and what we are all saying is no one has gotten close to 20k at 550 torque, at least no one who actually gets it into boost for more than a few seconds a week. and thinking that spending more money on your kit will make it last longer is wrong, by spending more money you got a higher and sooner torque peak which is just going to make the block problem worse. While not having mistakes like a poorly setup used boost controller that over speeds the turbos to ~40 psi for a little bit will make it last longer, they still havent invented te magic pixie dust that keeps your stock rods from fatigue stressing, and bending.

We see eye to eye, don't know what you are arguing with. But I won't take the bait.

You can reread my post, but I am sure: "My plan is simple. mess around for a year at it's power levels, throw it into high boost after the year. Just see how long this engine can survive a 630/550+ beating while my built block is waiting." Was pretty clear that I expect the block to be on borrowed time at that number....

I get it tho, you like to argue...go nuts. I am in the wrong thread anyhow. I believe this is your side of town

I actually read your post as slightly redundant. I totally read your statement above and understood that, but then I didn't understand the 20-40k estimate... I just assumed you drove like 20-30k a year meaning that once you switched to high boost, it would be gone

hmm thought we were just going with the flow of the thread, some guy from texas is pushing big torque -> we said his motor won't last long -> F.I. owners started going nah we can do it -> I reiterated that that is A LOT to ask of factory components (but if you spent 11k on turbos you probably aren't worried about another 10k for an engine) -> end result prepare to replace your motor if you has that much torques. Didn't think any of it specifically referred to you. You've already said you plan to replace it when it blows, I just pointed out you probably wont get near the 20-40k you said you expect at that power level if you are in the boost often. This isn't really an argument in my opinion more casual debate, but I guess I hurt your feelings?

Thats how I took it too I mean he did say he drives it like it owes him money (and for 11k I assumed that meant he drives it hard and a lot)

Also I'm not on either side of the fence, I'm just not the type to take up torches and burn down one side over internet speculation, The F.I. kit is great but it's too rich for my, and many other peoples blood, does the old GTM kit have some things that could be improved yes, is it crap? no lots of guys have made good trouble free power with it and still do, there are a ton of them out there, and they are priced afford-ably. I get it everyone can express their opinions but a lot of you guys have turned it into a witch hunt, and now apparently everyone has to take a ******* side? what is this the ford vs. chevy camps at bathurst?

I did read the Op has received his refund, Thats GREAT NEWS.

Im very HAPPY for him.

For those who maybe still waiting for an update or a refund? I can only hope you people get satisfaction either way.

I would suggest to PLEASE PM AK to let him know of your refund situation so he can do whatever he can to help.

Everyone else with NO issues here? Please feel free to move on WE don't need more countless pages of more OFF TOPIC replies.

Almost everyone who's had an issues or an opinion? Has been given the opportunity to voice their concerns as well making others aware of a "potential" issue with this vendor.

I would appreciate it as well as the other members whom are still in the group buy list to KEEP IT ON TOPIC!

Please read the Op's original post so there's no confusion

Thank You.
