i plan on running a ebc around 7 or 8psi. does this require the tune to be refined?

GTM tunes the way most do for these cars using the MAF, so turning up the boost a few psi will not require a retune. fuel will adjust based on maf flow and timing shouldn't need to be retarded until you're running much higher boost levels

You said retarted! Lol

Pre TT Kit Dyno Day tomorrow......

3 power runs for $30 :)

It's going to be a long gap between these dyno runs and the post TT install runs but it will at least give me some ballpark idea of the gains.

Dzel 11-08-2013 07:13 AM

Sweet finally some action

Dyno jet would be about 295. Tuned maybe as high as 310. But all that doesn't matter.

Alstann 11-09-2013 07:17 AM

Hopefully we get an update on if the casting parts will be still arriving on time, and the bender is running full tilt? :)

SPOHN 11-11-2013 09:33 PM

F'ing frustrated.

1,100 mile update

The car is running strong at 550+ WHP.

I got the car back and have been driving around with tons of power. Did my first oil change at 1k miles. The engine is strong. I can burn the tires at 60 on the freeway.

The stage four transmission shifts like a dream. Hard shifts at full throttle and softer with regular driving. I feel like it can handle the power that the engine puts out now. The stock Trans with valve body upgrade always felt like it was slipping in higher gears (3rd - 5th). I was afraid the stage four would hit like-a-truck in 1st to second transition, but it really is firm, but smooth.

The engine rebuild (stage 1 GTM long block) seems to have added roughly 100whp and runs super-strong. The drivability is really nice.

I am really hopeful that I am going to get 10s of thousands of trouble free miles out of the new setup.

One or two minor issues (which I think are bein worked out in the production setup).
1) the driver's side air return (from the Tial blow off valves) is rubbing slightly on the wheel well at full throttle (max power). This is annoying, but seems to be fairly cosmetic/annoying. I think the only fix for this is a redesign/shortening of the pipe.
2) I have developed a whistle/whine at boost. This sounds like a full ballon being pulled tight while letting air out (the sound your kids love to make with a ballon as they let air out). I'm not noticing loss of boost, but I fear a fitting or line to/from the boost controller has a leak.
I'll have to do a line pressure check.

All in all I am prety happy with the power (having upgraded to the Garett turbos) and (unfortunately) having to build the engine.

Takeaways:
When all is said and done,
- the engine is super powerful.
- The craftsmanship is amazing,
- the drivability is superb,
- the car is a blast to drive,
- the project always seems "almost complete" (If I can solve the rubbing and whistle it will be show ready - it's hard to take someone for a ride and have to explain noises :()
- expect MANY delays and at least double your original budget
- your car will forever be a project car (have a backup)
- the stage 4 transmission is quite good
- wives have about 1/4 the patience you have

Why did you have to build the block? How much boost are you running? IWG?

At least one person is happy. I've yet to get four promised phone calls back. Getting super pissed. I'm really sick of this. I get treated good but damn.

SPOHN 11-12-2013 10:27 AM

I'm at the point of building my short block. Get some H beam rods and pistons. Rebalance the crank.

Alstann 11-12-2013 11:18 AM

Spohn going hard!

I'm just hoping for a update and a ship date before this month.

SPOHN 11-12-2013 11:21 AM

^ me too brother.

Infidel 11-12-2013 11:41 AM

I should of just got the 1.5 SC, I would be back from my trip to Georgia/Z1 by now and having fun with my non-nutless Z :shakes head:

Im too much of a Z fanboy to do that lol. Im not going to be able to put this kit on until mid next year anyway so the wait isnt so bad for me  Im sure its relentless for the guys who are ready.

Mkai0 11-12-2013 01:55 PM

I completely understand where you are coming from. After working out all of the kinks with my Stage 1.5 SC and finally getting everything perfect, I am slightly apprehensive about doing a full engine build and TT kit. A lot of things to account for when doing massive builds like this. Did you upgrade your Mass Airflow Sensors for your build?

I know this has become one of the most irritable thing in my life. My hands are tied and so are GTM's. Is it worth? Maybe. Should of bought a used race car.

Could u imagine Spohn's motor letting go only few hundred miles into it after everything he's been thru already??????

So glad I didn't give them any money. We're a long ways away from their first projected release of late June or early July.

MyKindaGuise 11-12-2013 08:03 PM

Well....This has all escalated rather quickly.

Fi threads are popping tonight

Dzel 11-12-2013 09:04 PM

It's been building but it simmers down with a couple of sentences every other month. But I'm done, my wife's upset. My cars just sitting there and will continue to just sit there for 2 years due to this crap. I'm done I'm calling tomorrow for a full refund. I'm not going to go fi. I'm not even going to probably keep the car anymore. This has really really ruined it for me. I had such high hopes this was going too be my first boosted car besides the ricer nitrous set up in my Mach. That I don't really count.

Nope. I have my install date, tune date, working with cjm and szp to get e85 into this beast. I haven't found a reason to complain. Ever.
