There's only so much you can do with the tranny. Cooler, valve body and upping the line pressure. The main issue seems to be that the clutch packs are just too small in 5/6/7. If you want it to hold power, call GTM and get ready to pay a pretty penny.

How is your tranny holding up currently? Any slipping?

From what I have read the Valve Body Upgrade-Cooler and staying out of boost on 5/6/7 should help to keep the tranny.

Courtesy of G37sHKS and his current built motor & transmission thread, he posted a good article on Flexplate crack:

AGCO Automotive Repair Service - Baton Rouge, LA - Detailed Auto Topics - What Causes A Flexplate To Crack

Quote:
Slight misalignment may only cause a single flexplate to break in the life of the vehicle. More severe misalignment can break a flexplate in 15,000 to 30,000 miles. Excessive crankshaft flange run-out or end plate can also cause flexplate cracking. This may occur in worn engines or engine that have been poorly rebuilt. An engine, transmission or torque converter that has been dropped may also have damage that will cause misalignment.

When a running engine ingest water or coolant, the crankshaft may be bent. Liquids will not compress and immense force is placed on the crankshaft and rods. This sometimes happens with a leaking intake manifold or driving on a flooded street. The bent crankshaft will have run-out at the flange and may have continued problems with flexplate cracking.

The same things that cause the flexplate to crack can also cause transmission problems. Damaged and leaking front seals and front transmission pumps are common symptoms.

When a flexplate cracks, it often produces a loud knocking noise as it rotates. The sound is very similar to a bad engine rod and is often misdiagnosed. Removing the bolts to the torque converter and sliding it back into the transmission will often reveal the real problem.

Hi, this week I will have installed GTM SC Stage 2 in my EU version of Infiniti M37S. After reading this thread I'm afraid about my 7AT reliability. I drive in the automatic mode the most time.

I'm not sure if 370z and my M37S have exactly the same 7AT with the same issues. In Infiniti M are also installed more powerful VK56VD and V9X engines and there are not issues with this transmission on the high gears.

Do you know if in my car is the same 7AT installed as in 370Z? Are any differences in 7AT related to engines with they are installed? For example, are 7AT exactly the same in G37 and FX50?

Should I think about transmission oil cooler and VB upgrade?

Staying out of boost on 5/6/7 and Trans Cooler / VB Upgrade are recommended from everything I have read.

Let us know how she runs... your feedback can always help others

Congrats on your Boosted Ride
