If the OP really wants to be confused look at the BMW twin turbo V8 they reversed the traditional setup of the intake and exhaust ports for a V setup.

If the OP really wants to be confused look at the BMW twin turbo V8 they reversed the traditional setup of the intake and exhaust ports for a V setup. They have the exhaust on the inside where an intake manifold would be and the intake on the outside where exhaust manifolds and turbos would traditionally be. There are a few variants of this engine used now but the setup is the same. You'll find engines like this in and X5 X6 550 650 750 M5/M6

Yeah it's pretty sweet. It first debuted in the 2008 X6 then in the 750. And still used now just minor variations. There is the N63 and S63 engines ranging in power from 402hp 440tq like in first N63 motor I pictured before up to 550hp 500tq in the S63 variant in the M5/M6 pictured below. Then there is the N74 which is the twin turbo V12 found in the 760 and the Rolls Royce Ghost but that motor isn't reverse flow

You would think. It actually is still a big job. I have actually written up quite a few for replacement under warranty. The twin turbo v8 that's in the X5 750 and 550 has an aux water pump that is just for cooling the turbos. There was a recall on the aux water pump for not being efficient enough. Even with the recall for some cars the damage has already been done and the turbos suffer from bad seals bc of the added heat and the turbos leak oil. So the turbos position make it easy to notice and diagnose but replacing them still takes prob 5 hours working straight through. We are wondering if BMW will extend the warranty on the turbos beyond the cars manufactures warranty bc if not when these cars come out of warranty, that job would cost the customer just about $6500 I know it's over $5k just in parts alone to replace them
