Forced induction and OEM exhaust

Soooo, as I am sure many of you have seen the single turbo build I am working on here. If not:

Boosted Performance single turbo build

Today I had a closer look at the OEM exhaust system, and can't see anybody using this in conjunction with any forced induction system. Since my customer has the F.I exhaust system, and it seem a lot of people on this forum have it as well, I was thinking that I should not even bother with a down pipe that would bolt up to the OEM Y-pipe.

How many aftermarket exhaust systems are out there for the 370z that do use an aftermarket exhaust system that would bolt up to the OEM (or aftermarket) Y-pipe?

I see that Tanable makes one:

and Litespeed:

How popular are these exhaust here? These would bolt up to the OEM Y-pipe so I would have to build a separate down pipe for an exhaust like this.

Feedback is greatly appreciated.

I don't think they are very popular. Most people here have FI, HKS, Invidia, Ark or Greddy

The exhausts listed aren't very popular. What about Motordyne?

why would you want to keep the oem y pipe thats the most restrictive part of the exhaust.

GT haus uses the stock Y pipe. Unfortunately it is over priced.

From what I have seen, many of the high-end exhaust uses the stock Y-pipe design. This could be the reason why most people stay away from them because they go for 3000+++.

I use the Motordyne XYZ Y pipe in conjunction with the Tanabe exhaust. I like this combo a lot and the fitment is perfect. PM me if you need to know any details

that's a bummer. i was planning on getting this exhaust soon. and i was planning on getting your kit.

Well, it will be a two piece down pipe. One will bolt up to the turbo (obviously), and the other will be made to bolt up to the F.I exhaust. I could send out the kit with only the first section that bolts up to the turbo, and any competent exhaust shop can fabricate the short 20" transition piece from a single 3" pipe to whatever exhaust you happen to have.

Just a thought.

With the Berk exhaust posted above, I would cut (prependicular to flow) the X section of the pipe right in the middle, flatten a 3" piece of tubing in to an oval and weld it to the X section. that is very easy and I have done it before.
